The Siolim house was his maternal place inherited by his maternal
brother, Dr. Estolano de Sa. Another uncle was Fr. Peter de Sa, sj.

Paternaly, they descend from Chicalim, which they deserted, along with
the Azaredos, Alvares, Figueiredos to escape the devastating plague.

While most settled in healthy Loutulim, The Flores family opted for Velcao.

 Hi Joel,

I am sorry I don't have all the information you require. I know that the
family used to stay near Don Bosco's school in Panjim, but now I have no idea
as that area has changed a lot since my time.

 Hi Gabriel,

It is very sad to note that Goa has lost another eminent musician - Noel
Flores. It has been mentioned that Noel lived in Panjim once. However,
do you know if he had any Siolim connection? There is a house at Vaddi in
Siolim, and it is said that it belongs to him. Similarly, I would like to
know the exact date on which he expired, I seem to have missed it somehow.

 Thanks Regards.

Hi Alfred,

Thank you for that little piece of information. I know that our ancestors came
from someplace near Sancoale. But I heard that they had to run away as an
ancestor had the audacity to ride his horse through a Catholic procession - how
far this is true, I have no idea, but a plague seems to be more plausible. Dr
Ananta, I believe, used to say we descended from a Naique family.

Dear Alfred,
I am privileged to ask you to convey my condolences to his brother in Sweden
where you live, even though I did not know Prof Flores.

With such an eminent Goan personality, one does not have to know the person.
It is enough that one has heard of and about him, even though posthumously.

Hi Alfred,
I thank you, Gabriel and all others, who have responded to my request for
information on Noel Flores. We did not know much about Flores, several
years ago, when I had mentioned about him in the Village Voice article in
Goa Today. All that I had seen then was the house at Vaddi in Siolim,
which seems to be suffering from lack of maintenance. Of course, I have
not been in its vicinity lately. Anyway, today we know so much about the
great Goan musician, through friends like you. Thanks again.
Regards.

Another great Goan pianist has left us. His rendition of Manuel de Falla#39;s
Fire Dance at the Academia de Musica, in Fontainhas, way back in early 70s when
he visited Goa, left me with my mouth open in amazement. That was the occasion
when the Academia held a gathering of all students to honour the great
musician, on his first visit to Goa after some fifteen years abroad.

May his soul rest in peace.
