Re: [Goanet] Goanet Top Posters (2004/July)

2008-10-10 Thread Miguel Braganza
Dear Mario,

You are entitled to your opinion, just as the others are entitled to theirs.

I believe, that people also change the restaurant they frequent, or change the
dish they order, when the original favourrite dish no longer tastes the same
[although the menu remains unchanged] ... due to a change in the ingredients or
the cook. To the readers goanet is the restaurant and to the posters it is a
'sink' or consumer of their products;it is the Admin Team that is in the
kitchen and decides what cook and to serve. -)

Mog asundi.

Miguel

I do not know if that calls for introspection by the Admin Team or criticism
 of the posters.

Mario observes:
Those who drop out are demonstrating a process called natural selection,
whereby people who cannot stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

Rene has shifted to writing more on other net groups and so have some other
'former' frequent posters on goanet. I do not know if that calls for
introspection by the Admin Team?or criticism of the posters.

Even a former active Moderator now more passive, Frederick Noronha, has taken
the role of posting news and articles from newspaper websites, rather than
original views. It is safer that way, it seems, but not as good as Joel's Goa
Newsclips which has photos, cartoons and even video link.

The decline is obvious ... to those who are willing to see. For the rest there
is statistics.

Mario observes:

Based on JoeGoaUK's style of posting I wonder what is different now from 4
years ago. We still don't know who he is.

Those who drop out are demonstrating a process called natural selection,
whereby people who cannot stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

Having observed the ebb and flow since 2005 to now, I believe the rumored
decline in Goanet is being greatly exaggerated, mostly by those whose views
held greater sway back in 2004 but are frequently challenged today, and they
thus find it safer to join other groups that may indulge them without rebuttal.

Dears,

Jorge de Abreu Noronha has moved on to another world. I really do miss his
considered views on any subject that he thought fit to post. From his few
posts, and  brief personal interaction with him when he was in Goa, I learnt a
lot. That more than what I can say for many more frequent posters.

Domnic Fernandes has almost gone off the radar, now that he is in Goa. there
are better things to do in Goa ...and he is doing quite a few of them,
including participating in the Carnival and Sao Joao celebrations! ;-)

Mario asks:

Joe,

What's your point, other than there were even fewer women back then, and the
usual suspects ruled the roost?

2004 was before Goanet started getting the benefit of my perspicacity, wit and
wisdom as the only TRUE and never humble messenger of peace, truth and love:-))
Furthermore, in those ancient times, the Goan cyber-world had not discovered
the prolific Selma either:-))

Look how the quality and diversity of the debate on Goanet has improved - to
the point that it is driving Herman and Bosco nuts trying to keep everyone in
check and imposing their selective, autocratic will, especially on the 3 - 4
posters he keeps referring to, which excludes Santosh whom they seem afraid
of:-))

Mario,
You ARE getting terribly confused.
When you first came on to GoaNet in 2004, I clearly remember advising you to
buy gold.
I remember this as I was mostly in San Jose, CA and we were emailing each other
ten times a day.

Fortunately, for me, my current wife DID buy gold then.
This resulted in her choosing to live wherever she wanted.
I suggested that she buy a house as far away from the zoo as possible.

Do not worry about the 3-4 posters (or is it the 4-3 posters?).
It has nothing to do with you.
Life is easy when it is not subjected to reality.
