[google-appengine] Re: HR Migration - SSL VIP question
bump... I'm assuming this is an appropriate question for this forum, because it is specific to Appengine Administration, therefore not allowed in Stack Overflow. It is relevant to anyone who has a VIP SSL and transitions from MS to HR. It does not appear to be specific to my account, therefore should not require premium support. Finally, it is a question that only Google personnel can answer. To reiterate the question: After migrating to HR, and disabling billing for my original (MS) app, I am no longer being billed for SSL. Re: [google-appengine] Will 1.8.2 Datastore Admin Scheduled Backup tool support the new Cloud Storage Client Library?
This is something we are working hard on. We're updating many code paths to fix a lot of issues and migrate over to the GCS client. Changes won't roll out in one big release, rather updates will be released as they are completed. If you don't want to wait, it is absolutely supported to use the GCS client to write out data from within your own MapReduce. On Thu, Jul 4, 2013 at 9:01 AM, Jason Collins jason.a.coll...@gmail.comwrote: Our backups are really flakey and take a long time, apparently because of the sketchy Files API link. Will the GAE 1.8.2 release of Datastore Admin Scheduled Backup tool support the new Cloud Storage Client Library? This is all wrapped up in MapReduce/Pipelines, so there are a lot of moving parts. My goal is to simply use stock, Google-supplied tools and have this stuff be resilient and predictable. Any info is appreciated. If something in this area is not imminent, we will have to start looking for alternate ways to achieve reliable backups. [google-appengine] Re: SSL/TLS Forward Secrecy Support for Custom Domains?
Thanks a lot for your reply Wolfram. It indeed looks like all custom domains on app engine support forward secrecy now: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=blossom.ios=74.125.34.52 as far as I understand this was not the case at the time I posted to the group but I'm pretty happy about this hope it stays like that :) On Monday, July 8, 2013 2:42:51 AM UTC-7, Wolfram Gürlich wrote: AFAIK forward secrecy is the only available option with all Google services including custom domains. [google-appengine] indexes stuck building for 4 days
A few days ago I added an index with with 20 million entities. It is still listed in the building phase, jumping around the 90% mark. Based on its early velocity, I would expected it to have completed by now. Are there some entities that are causing it problems, or do I still need to wait? One shows blob store objects as they are uploaded, and the other one is showing none :) Sometimes the admin pages are not completely up to date. If you saved the blob keys for those objects, you can try to have the application serve the missing blobs ( https://developers.google.com/appengine/docs/java/blobstore/#Serving_a_Blob ); the blobs might be there and available for serving, just not showing up in the admin page. - -Vinny P Technology Media Advisor Chicago, IL App Engine Code Samples: http://www.learntogoogleit.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Google App Engine group. Re: [google-appengine] Problems with AppEngine and GCM: IOException: Could not fetch URL: https://android.googleapis.com/gcm/send
On Mon, Jul 8, 2013 at 1:29 PM, hodenkobol...@gmail.com wrote: Our service sends more then 10.000 messages every day through GCM. But about every day there are one or more messages which could not be delivered according to the following stack trace: Uncaught exception from servlet java.io.IOException: Could not fetch URL: https://android.googleapis.com/gcm/send The exception occurs at following position: MulticastResult results = sender.send(message, tokens, 5); Does anyone has some ideas what the resason of this problem could be? Just to be clear, you're saying that your application sends 10,000 urlfetches to the GCM API endpoint (each one is a single message), and that every day one or more urlfetches fail? Sounds about right. Some quick napkin math: (1 urlfetch failure / 10,000 urlfetch uses) * (100 percent) = 0.01% urlfetch failure rate (check my math, I'm about to go to bed at the time of writing this!). URLFetch occasionally fails. It's just a fact of life on App Engine. The best thing for you to do is to catch the exception and retry the urlfetch. Better yet, put your urlfetch code within a task and queue up a task when you need to send a GCM message, the task queue service will automatically retry the task if it fails. P.S. I notice you said you were from Germany. Is your GAE application hosted in a US datacenter or an European datacenter ( https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/google-appengine/Oon8Ds3dlO4 )? Assuming that the GCM API is hosted out of a different region than your application, you may be experiencing higher urlfetch failure simply due to your location. - -Vinny P Technology Media Advisor Chicago, IL App Engine Code Samples: http://www.learntogoogleit.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Google App Engine group.
