[google-appengine] Re: Upcoming changes to App Engine support in the Google Cloud SDK

2015-07-14 Thread Elissa Tong
The change is very sudden. I've been using appcfg.py for some time, until
this week it stopped working. I suggest we need better documentation &
examples. These changes need to be communicated to the customers. It will
be very embarrassing when you're doing a presentation with all your execs
or team and this command just stopped working.

I finally got my deployment working:

folder_of_myproject $ gcloud preview app deploy app.yaml --set-default

NOTE: app.yaml asks to remove the application_id and version.

You'll get warnings or errors, so your yaml files need to be updated:

*WARNING:* The [application] field is specified in file
[/Users/myname/workspace/github/cp100-appengine-memcache-python/app.yaml].
This field is not used by gcloud and should be removed.

*ERROR:* The version [1] declared in
[/Users/myname/workspace/github/cp100-appengine-memcache-python/app.yaml]
does not match the current gcloud version [20150714t161935].

*ERROR:* (gcloud.preview.app.deploy) Errors occurred while parsing the App
Engine app configuration.

[google-appengine] Re: Batch Query App engine datastore with AND expression

2015-07-14 Thread Patrice (Cloud Platform Support)
Hi Marcus,

I know this won't give you anything more than what you already have, but
can you try running your second query "queryBatchString", but without the
filter for the date field?
And could you copy the string for "queryBatchString"? Because looking at
how you build it, your keys should be after your "where", but it seems to
have trouble parsing "AND encodedKey", which should never be in the string
in the first place.

Cheers!

[google-appengine] Re: Cannot use appcfg.py

2015-07-14 Thread Patrice (Cloud Platform Support)
Hi

Just to point it out, I think that the two stack overflow posts you link
are not exactly relevant to your issue, as they are 2 and 4 year old
respectively. I don't believe the appcfg.py tool has been broken for that
long.

Did you update to gcloud or are you staying on the php standalone SDK on
purpose? Because earlier this week we deprecated the standalone SDKs to
move to gcloud.

I'd test with a fresh python install and the newest gcloud version, making
sure there's NOTHING "polluting" your PATH, so to speak.

Cheers

[google-appengine] Re: Database pricing questions

2015-07-14 Thread Patrice (Cloud Platform Support)
Hi Ketih,

Could you clarify what exactly you mean? If you're talking Cloud SQL, then
if your instance is 100% up, you can refer to this page
for the pricing. (also worth noting
you're using the price for per use billing, not the packages, which come
cheaper if your instance is up 24/7.

You do mention datastore as well. Which storage solution will you be using?
Because datastore doesn't require instances to run (besides the instances
running your application itself), it only charges for calls and storage.
You can refer to this pricing page for it.

Seems to me like datastore would be faster and more responsive for your
application.

Cheers

[google-appengine] Re: Pricing for a AngularJS front-end / Java backend app?

2015-07-14 Thread Patrice (Cloud Platform Support)
Hi Keith,

Unfortunately, depending on the app you do, prices can change drastically.
You do have free tiers for instance hours (28 for front end and 8 for back
ends), so the cost would not be 76$ per month, but it also depends on your
instance type (F2 cost twice as much as F1, etc)

Without a more in depth idea of how many instances you need, what you will
process, what backend-data you need, if you save information (and if you
do, in which service), this is literally impossible to answer accurately. I
can suggest our calculator ,
but you still need to know a lot about your application to get a good idea
of your price.

As for your second question, it really depends what you do again. Since
Google App Engine does not have a product called "Google App Engine CDN", I
will assume you mean either webhosting with Compute Engine, serving static
content with App Engine, or configuring a Google Cloud Storage bucket as a
website. In any case, as long as you serve static content, no it won't work
with these as they work purely staticly. You definitely could setup a full
App Engine application, where you can serve images and resize it on the fly.

I hope I clarified your questions. If you still have more, feel free to ask
me, I'll be happy to help further.

Cheers!

[google-appengine] Re: Quotas maxed, app nearly dormant. Looking for troubleshooting pointers! Thanks.

2015-07-14 Thread Patrice (Cloud Platform Support)

Earlier today, a number of users observed incorrect usage statistics being
displayed by the App Engine dashboard in the Google Cloud Developer
Console. Some resources, especially Frontend Instance Hours, were shown
with unrealistically elevated usage.

The dashboard has been returned to normal operation and our engineers are
investigating to find and fix the root cause of the issue. So far, the
results of our investigation indicate that the issue was purely cosmetic,
with no elevated billing or quota denials to any user application. If your
application encountered quota denials because of this issue, if you later
observe elevated resource billing in your invoice for this month, or if you

[google-appengine] Re: Simple Search API billing estimate bug

2015-07-14 Thread Ryan (Cloud Platform Support)
Earlier today, a number of users observed incorrect usage statistics being
displayed by the App Engine dashboard in the Google Cloud Developer
Console. Some resources, especially Frontend Instance Hours, were shown
with unrealistically elevated usage.

The dashboard has been returned to normal operation and our engineers are
investigating to find and fix the root cause of the issue. So far, the
results of our investigation indicate that the issue was purely cosmetic,
with no elevated billing or quota denials to any user application. If your
application encountered quota denials because of this issue, if you later
observe elevated resource billing in your invoice for this month, or if you
are still observing unrealistic usage in the App Engine dashboard, please
notify Google Cloud Platform Support.

[google-appengine] Go App Engine modified APIs

2015-07-14 Thread pedro mg
Hi,

any idea on when appengine/runtime will be ported ? Any timeframe ?
"appengine/aetest, appengine/cloudsql and appengine/runtime have not been
ported yet."

https://github.com/golang/appengine#3-update-code-using-deprecated-removed-or-modified-apis

runtime.RunInBackground(...) used appengine.Context as param, but on our
updated app we now use context.Context.

Also, we are getting "API error 9 (memcache: Memcache is temporarily
unavailable)" quite frequently.

Thanks in advance,

Hi sainthor

Thank you for your feedback, we always appreciate such comments as they
help us improve our services and offerings.

You can definitely make a full fledged Feature Request on our Issue Tracker
, where we will
update the request with our progress on it. By no means is it necessarily a
guarantee that your feature will be implemented, but posting it there will
let you track it more easily.

Cheers!

[google-appengine] Re: Abnormal frontend charges

2015-07-14 Thread marain
Thanks Oleg.

According to the data I'm seeing so far, this issue is cosmetic — although
the dashboard showed inconsistent resource usage data, my current
observations indicate that this will not affect your application's billing.

Also, I'm seeing more consistent usage data now. I believe this was just a
glitch. I'm reporting it to the App Engine engineering team for followup.

[google-appengine] Unable to set up Google Apps domain as Authentication Type

2015-07-14 Thread Poluf Egy

Hi,
I have created an app and I wanted to set the authentication domain to the
google apps domain of my company.
However the authentication domain field cannot be edited and the mysterious
message of "This may only be edited by apps that have no user properties in
their datastore."
is displayed at the application settings section of appengine.googe.com
I added the app ID to our google apps domain as a google app engine project
but the situation is unchanged.
I do have another app which has been eventually added to the same domain,
but I don't remember how I did it as it was a long time ago and now I just
can't figure out how to set it up.
As regards https://cloud.google.com/appengine/articles/auth, this seems to
be outdated information as the input fields referred to there are not shown.
Please help me to solve this problem.
Thank you.

Re: [google-appengine] Re: error 204 in Google App Engine that I can't get rid of

2015-07-14 Thread Cookie Monster
Dear all,

I believe I have found the problem. The problem was related to the urlfetch
call (I don't know if dd has also a urlfetch call, could you please tell
me???). I did many tests until I isolate the problem. When i did calls only
to datastore everything worked as expected. However when I added the
urlfetch call it produced the 204 errors. It happened always so I believe
that could be a bug.

What I did to get rid of the error was to remove the cloud end point from
Google and use a basic servlet. I found that mixing the servlet with the
urlfetch call we don't get the error, therefore the problem might not be
only related to urlfetch but a combination of urlfetch and Google cloud end
point.

We also talked with Google support, they said that the urlfetch problem
could be related to our location. I'm in Madrid and our users are in
Europe. They said that most of GAE's API are in the states, so that might
be a problem.

help commands to be displayed and the action is not performed.

I am trying to rollback update as it got stuck during deployment. So
running "appcfg.py rollback" gives:

Usage: appcfg.py [options]

I am using Python 2.7.9 and latest version of Appengine SDK for PHP.
