[google-appengine] Re: Google App Engine is slow to deploy, hangs on "Updating service [someproject]..."

2017-11-20 Thread Vijay M
I have been struggling with the same issue. I tried deploying a very simple
app and waited for several minutes before the process timed out. I even ran
into the same timeout issue with Google's own samples from

https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/python-docs-samples/
appengine/flexible/hello_world

Coming from AWS, it has been very frustrating working with GCP. One more
day of this and I am going back to AWS.

[google-appengine] About design of the application which supports mobile and web browser

2015-09-29 Thread vijay kumar

We are developing the application which supports both mobile and web
application in google app engine. Most of the things are developed using
google cloud endpoints, is there any performance effect using the endpoints
in web applications. As an average we are using 10-15 endpoints in browser
web page using google javascript endpoint library. these endpoints need to
refresh data from server for certain interval of time. Is it causes
performance effect.

Could you please suggest us, is there any better and securely implement
applications which support both mobile and web application.

 So using Django for Redis and NoSQL is still tricky as the application
 produce lots of bugs and if using Django and not able to use the resources
 it provides then it is better to use some other framework if we need to
 make the whole DB. So the next framework we are looking for is Flask.

 We have used Heroku and DigitalOcean before but many great sites like
 Udacity, Khan Academy inspires to use the Google App Engine.

 We are planning to start a Google Cloud Platform Project, So please let us

  CXF uses @Resource Annotations for Declarative Dependency Injection.

  But javax.annotation.Resource is not on the Whitelist.
  Only

  javax.annotation.Generated
  javax.annotation.PostConstruct
  javax.annotation.PreDestroy

  can be found on

  Consequentely I get the StackTrace: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
  javax.annotation.Resource is a restricted class. Please see the
  Google  App Engine developer's guide for more details.

  Well - I did not find a clear explanation what is wrong with @Resource

  There is also an issue

  Maybe there is a simple explanation / workaround to this situation and
  some kind soul could respond?

[google-appengine] Doing Appengine settings programmatically

HI All,I am writing an application in Java which will create a website for
my users using some custom fields. I want that the website built and this
application will be deployed on App Engine. Assuming that My user trust my
application and I can have their username and password enterd to my
applications setting page, how to do all Appengine settings programmatically.
Are their any API available for this.
The reason I want to do it this way is that the user can directly handle
their app engine interaction and can pay for usage over freebie quota.

Thanks Jason,As also pointed out by Shawn that we cannot simply use Key in

 You should be able to follow the steps in that post, stubbing out the Key

[google-appengine] JDOObjectNotFound exception when using getObjectById

2009-05-13 Thread vijay
Hi All,
I am stuck with a very weird case here while using getObjectById() function,

I have a persistent class called Category and i am saving it to appengine
datastore using JDO.
I have tried to fetch a particular entry using query and getObjectById()
method, the query is passing and returning me the correct results but
getObjectById is throwing exception JDOObjectNotFound.

The Category class have a primary key field called id, a parent key and a
child key. the child and parent are actually primary key of other Category
instances.( I am trying to buuld a heirarchy of similar objects here. I am
using unowned one to many relationship here.)

// In following code we get the Id of parent and remove the child's
information from it.
Long id = e.getParent(); // returns parent Id.

Query query = pm.newQuery(Category.class);
query.setFilter(id == cat_id); // get the Category with primary key id =
cat_id.
query.declareParameters(Long cat_id);
ListCategory results = (ListCategory) query.execute(id); // get parent
category. results contain the expected information.
if (results.iterator().hasNext()) {
   for (Category e3 : results) {
  SetLong child = e3.getChildrens(); // get the childrens.
   }
  }

Category e2 = (Category) pm.getObjectById(id); // throws JDOObjectNotFound
exception. It is expected to contain the same information as in results 1st
element.
e2.removeChildren(e.getId());
pm.deletePersistent(e);

As you must have seen in the code i am fetching same id using the query and
it returning me the expected objects while
the getObjectById is throwing the exception JDOObjectNotFound. Any clues why
it is throwing that exception.

I tried to google it but could not find any obvious reason,
Can somebody help me figuring out where I am doing it wrong.

Vijay

[google-appengine] Some design Issues in appengine datastore

2009-04-30 Thread vijay
Hello All,I am working on an application and got stuck in design phase I
hope you guyz can help me out. I have several doubts related to performance
and modelling.

1#
In my application i store some hierarchical data and not sure how to do it.

for e.g. say you have data organized as

food
  |fruit
  | |___red---Ironapples
  | |  |   |something
  | |  |
  | |  |___Viatamins  litchies
  | |
  | |___greenIron-apples
  ||_Vitamin E - guava
  |
  |vegetable---category1 -category2category3
  |  |
  |  | |
  |  |
  | ||
  |fried|___
 |__similarly here

Is there a clean way to store this kind of data in appengine. I mean what
should be classes , their properties etc.

In my case the sub categories can upto a depth of 10, with each level having
100s of categories.
I will be executing queries to lookup by any node, so basically i can do
lookup by fruit or apple or food as a whole.

2#
My applcation is going to have a search box where user will be writing his
search items, I would like to suggest them the correct word if they do a
spelling mistake, so if they type frut i wil suggest them to type fruit.
The way i am thinking of implementing it is to for each word entered do a
comparison with each node element with a relaxation of 2, so if the word
matched except at two points i will go ahead and suggest it. I think as i
need to have sequential traversal of all the nodes, which may take a lot of
time and resources, I should store it somewhere to do faster lookup like in
memcache, what are your suggestions.

3#
Are there any standard APIs to send sms from application. I asked about this
in other thread but haven't got any reply, I hope I will get some answers
this time.

I am quiet new to web site designing and any other suggestion or some
pointers to general design principles would be great.

Regards,
Vijay

[google-appengine] Re: Protocol Buffers with Appengine

2009-04-23 Thread vijay
HI Nick,Thanks for responding.
I want to use protocol buffer because it have autogenerated methods and are
 serializable which i am doing by defining a data class for persistance
storage. But I could not find any example where Protocol buffer are used for
this purpose and could n't think of any obvious reason.
Can you point me to some documentation or example related to it.
Also I am not sure why cant we use index for protocal buffers.

 Hi Vijay,

 You certainly can use Protocol Buffers to persist your data. Unless
 you have a well-defined need for the features of Protocol Buffers,

 though, you probably just want to use JDO directly, since that allows
 your data to be indexed, as opposed to treated as an opaque blob. The
 documentation on how to use JDO with App Engine is here:

[google-appengine] SMS support in Google App Engine

2009-04-23 Thread vijay
Hi All,I am new to app-engine and planning to build a website which would
show some information and users can choose to send that information to their
mobiles. I am planning to use App engine for hosting this web site. I would
 like to know if app engine have some inbuilt APIs or if I can use third
party APIs for this. I found a issue raised for the same from a year and
without any strong response

http://code.google.com/p/googleappengine/issues/detail?id=226

Please note i am planning to send SMS to India only.

Thanks in advance.

 I was not able to run this command earlier as appengine-java-sdk was
 actually named appengine-java-sdk-VERSION so i removed the version part and
 able to run the command.

 I don't think the problem is CLASSPATH variable as when i give command

 java -version

 it detects the path and show me correct version. I would be thankful if
 someone can help me out.

 Vijay
