You can't do that, unless someone's implemented .Net on the JVM.

That's a shame.

I wish the App Engine would support the .NET 4 library, with support
for VB.NET and C#.
But as you said, that might never happen as those great technologies
are developed by Google's top competitor - Microsoft.

The only good approach is Python which recently rocks over and over.

[google-appengine] Re: How to deploy .Net App on Google App

2010-05-25 Thread Robin
Azure platform is very pricey at the moment in comparison to GAE. You
don't pay for compute time (ie the amount of time you are processing
stuff) but clock time (ie the amount of time your app is available).
The end result is that to have your app available 24x7 for a whole
year will cost you around $1000 even if it's doing nothing. Compare
that to GAE which is free within certain limits. Azure has it's uses,
but is not for hobbyists or small web apps. Plus GAE is really
straightforward and fun to use. It's much quicker to get things done
because Google take care of so much for you. Azure is probably more
similar to Amazon's offering, but really sits somewhere in between I
think.

A side note: occasionally there are comments moaning about GAE
constraints. Personally I feel constraints in this form are
liberating. Google has made all the important choices for me regarding
architecture, allowing me to concentrate on functionality. If I don't
like their choices I can go elsewhere.

Re: [google-appengine] Re: How to deploy .Net App on Google App

2010-05-24 Thread Wesley C (Google)
correct. App Engine currently supports two runtimes: Java and Python.
i know this may be disappointing to some of you potential users, but
our cloud computing platform runs on the same hardware and networks
that power all of Google, and these systems do not run .NET

if you *must* run .NET, the only way to do it is to use Microsoft
Azure http://microsoft.com/azure ... however, be aware that running
similar apps on both platforms, that you're likely to pay a lot more
for Azure than you would for App Engine -- do your due diligence
before making a final decision.

although i am my company's representative, ultimately, i want you to
be happy with your selection, so here are some links that compare both
of our services:

Hi,
Why not Azure Plateform for your needs?
