Re: GWT project creation indefinetly creates folder recursively

2009-01-05 Thread TBirch

I have had this happen to me twice lately trying to import an existing
project into eclipse. On the first machine, it ran till the machine
ran out of memory. Then, vista could not delete the files as the path
was too long. I had to restore the system. The second time on another
machine I noticed it was happening and I canceled the import before it
that far along. I am very hesitant to import at this point.

Re: Setting up GWT on Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries

2009-03-02 Thread TBirch

I use gwt designer and just included wdsc as one of the eclipse
targets during the install. I use it for the entire development
process. When ready to deploy, I just use the deployment feature that
is part of the product. I use jtopen for i5 data access. Works very
well for me.

RPC call does not work after upgrading to Safari 5

2010-06-22 Thread TBirch
I have a get app that has been working fine with Safari 4 for some
time. It appears that my initial RPC call no longer works after
upgrading today to Safari 5. The app works fine in Chrome, IE, and
Firefox. I un-installed Safari 5 and re-installed version 4 and the
app no longer works in that version either. Any suggestions as to why
the app will not work in the Safari browser?
Thank You

Re: RPC call does not work after upgrading to Safari 5

2010-06-23 Thread TBirch
After further research on the web and directing me to review my
server's logs I believe my problem may be due to my app still being
run as a gwt 1.4. If so, are there any options other than upgrading
the app to a newer gwt version?
Below is from my Tomcat server log:
SEVERE: Exception while dispatching incoming RPC call
javax.servlet.ServletException: Content-Type must be 'text/plain' with

Problems with gwt plugin and eclipse

2010-08-29 Thread TBirch
I am running 64 bit windows vista and for some reason I am getting
this error:
Errors occurred during the build.
Errors running builder 'Google Web Toolkit Project Validator' on
project 'contacts'.
org.eclipse.jdt.internal.core.JavaModel cannot be cast to
org.eclipse.jdt.core.IJavaProject

I have tried several versions of eclipse and and the only way I seem
to be able to create and run a standard gwt project in eclipse is by
going back to an older version of eclipse i.e Version:
3.5.0.v20090611a-9gEeG1HFtQcmRThO4O3aR_fqSMvJR2sJ
Build id: I20090611-1540

Anyone have any suggestions as I have tried every other combination of
32 and 64 bit eclipse with gwt plugin I can think of.
Thanks

Re: Problems with gwt plugin and eclipse

2010-08-30 Thread TBirch
Hi Alex,

Thanks for your suggestion. I will check the on the jdk version on
that machine.
However, I also have a 32 bit vista machine. This morning on the 32
bit machine I downloaded the helios 3.6 version of eclipse and the 3.6
version of the gwt plugin. When trying to create a standard gwt
project I get the same error as on the 64 bit machine:
Errors occurred during the build.
Errors running builder 'Google Web Toolkit Project Validator' on
project 'contacts'.
org.eclipse.jdt.internal.core.JavaModel cannot be cast to
org.eclipse.jdt.core.IJavaProject

My problem does not seem to be related to a 64 bit versus 32 issue.
Could there be another piece of software on both of my machines that
could be causing a problem?
Thanks, Terry

Re: Problems with gwt plugin and eclipse

Alex,
Thanks for your help. I've tried everything I can think of.
I will just have to continue using an older version of eclipse and the
gwt plugin for now
as they work okay on both machines.

Unable to create GWT project in Eclipse Helios

2010-10-06 Thread TBirch
I have no problems creating a GWT project in an older version of
eclipse i. e. Version: 3.5.0 however I am unable to create a new GWT
project in Helios.

1. I downloaded and installed GWT 2.04, eclipse Helios, and the GWT
eclipse plugin for Helios.
2. I click on the GWT New ApplicationProject button and accept all
defaults to create a new project.

During the creation process I get the following error :
Errors occurred during the build.
Errors running builder 'Google Web Toolkit Project Validator' on
project 'testgwt'.
org.eclipse.jdt.internal.core.JavaModel cannot be cast to
org.eclipse.jdt.core.IJavaProject

3. When I close eclipse and try to restart it, it will not reopen, the
startup screen appears for a few seconds and Helios will not stare.
The errors below are listed in the eclipse .log file:

Should I be able to run GWT in eclipse Helios under windows vista? I
have this exact same problem on two different computers.

org.eclipse.jdt.internal.core.JavaModel cannot be cast to org.eclipse.jdt.core.IJavaProject

2010-12-27 Thread TBirch
It has been several months since I first posted about this issue and
since then I've been waiting to see if any others might also have this
problem but I don't believe I've seen references at least in the GWT
forum. I have seen at least one reference to this error in Helios on a
webobjects forum but without any solution posted that I could find. My
problem is that I can create a new GWT web project in eclipse Galileo
with no problems. But I continue to get this error message when trying
to create even a basic GWT web project in Helios. I've continued,
since I first installed Helios, to get all updates available for
Helios and for GWT hoping to solve this problem without any luck. Has
anyone else also had this problem and if so found a solution? Or does
anyone have any suggestions that I could try?
Thank You

Re: org.eclipse.jdt.internal.core.JavaModel cannot be cast to org.eclipse.jdt.core.IJavaProject

2011-01-04 Thread TBirch
I have some more information on this problem. I only get this error if
my workspace in eclipse is named the same as my GWT project. In other
words, if I create a new GWT project and use the same name for the
project as the name I used for my eclipse workspace, I get the unable
to cast error. However, if I create a new GWT project with a name that
is different than the workspace name then everything works fine. This
means of course that any existing projects where the workspace and the
project name are the same will get this casting error.
Could anyone comment on this? Is it standard practice to keep the
workspace and project names different?
Thanks

I have been able to get my sites to work by changing the setting in

to the code for my sites for them to work in normal ie9 view?

Right click on your java module and then click on Google Web Toolkit
at the top of the list. Deploy module should be last in the list.

Re: How to create war file in GWT 2.4 / Eclipse Indigo

2011-10-14 Thread TBirch
Hi Sachin,
I believe I had the same issue when I first started working with
Indigo and here is what I remember doing. I started over with a fresh
download of Eclipse 3.7. Then I installed just the GWT sdk 2.4 through
the Eclipse update function (not the designer or any other of the
choices). At that point I checked and the option to deploy was there.
Only then did I go back in to the Eclipse update function and add the
additional features.

Question on GWT Designer license expiring

2011-10-18 Thread TBirch
I still have to use the Galileo version for some older GWT apps and I
purchased a two year license on GWT Designer in September of 2009. Now
when trying to open the designer I am getting the Product Registration
and Activation license has expired prompt. I believe that GWT Designer
is free now so can I still use it in Galileo and if so how do I deal
with the registration prompt?
Thanks

Re: GWT 2.4 installation

2011-11-09 Thread TBirch
Sachin,
I had the same problem for a long time and finally downloaded the gwt
zip file and installed locally.
Follow the link on this note on the download page: Note: As an
alternative to installing from the update site, you can install the
Google Plugin for Eclipse by downloading and installing an archive of
the update site.
Thanks

Re: GWT 2.4 installation

2011-11-11 Thread TBirch
Sachin,
After I installed GWT locally, I installed WindowsBuilder from here:
http://code.google.com/javadevtools/download-wbpro.html

And to deploy, you should be able to:
right click on your client java source file
click on Google Web Toolkit at the top of the list
click on Deploy Module
