Tree like widget in CellTable
Hi, I am using GWT 2.2 and am very much happy with the data presentation widgets. But now a requirement has come to have a tree like widget in a celltable and so far I haven't found anything that works seamlessly. So, I was evaluating celltree. Hi, Thanks for the answer. However I did not succeed to make this working by managing with the layout. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Re: GWT and existing project
Hi, As per my latest experience, same thing ihave done. what you need to do that u create a separate GWT project with your new stuffs and then compiled that with xs-linker. Now, you deploy the compiled source to your server in a jar or war form. then, load the GWT project , you can get the all neccesaary information for loading from this link i.e http://developerlife.com/tutorials/?p=231 Plz let us know if you have any difficulties. RequestBuilder doesn't work when gwt app war loaded inside iframe at the client machine
Hi, I am working on GWT from acouple of months. Now I am almost close to achieve my first assisgnment on GWT. Thanx everyone to provide much needed idea on various occasion. Right now I have a deployment issue which is stopping me to bind up my first set of work. I have made an GWT application which uses RPC , RequestBuilder call and some widgets. Everything runs fine in host mode even i am able to access an external server using rpc and RequestBuilder. But when I packed this GWT app up in war file and hosted on my external server and loaded GWT app using a iframe from a HTML on client machine. then request made using RequestBuilder gets failed. This says status code : ( 404 : /pm/comments/xxx.xml not found). The remarkable thing is that this even doesnot show complete url as my request Url was http://10.19.74.129:8000//pm/comments/xxx.xml Can anybody help me out to get rid of . Hi Manuel, Thanx for response. But I wanna know how do you passing the parameter from our website/HTML to gwt component. is this by using JSNI.if yes , how do attached your compiled gwt app source to your website/html.This point is crucial for me since i am not able to connect to gwt from our html in deployment mode( not hosted mode ). please provide the detail about your approach. How to do cross site implementation in GWT
Hi everybody, I has working for 2 months on GWT( 1.5.3 ). I have been successful in implementing various feature in GWT. Finally I am stuck at end for almost 20 days in including my GWT project to a set of HTML files with passing a set of values to GWT from HTML. Previously also I put this issue in this forum as i was trying with JSNI and xs linker. Now i am running out of time. Time has come for decision. Thanks for constant help and co-operation. Now can anybody please confirm my approach? Since still I suspect my approach. I have a set of HTML files. I have made and GWT project including some widgets , rpc and a external server( calling using request builder ). I have wriiten a JSNI method in GWT component which is called by a GWT method called inside onModuleLoad. I have wriiten a js method( on HTML side) which calls JSNI method. I compiled the GWT component using xs linker and added nocache.js in my HTML(in HEAD part). I am expecting that this will invoke GWT component as js method ( html side ) is called on click of a button displayed in HTML. A couple of months back I had got this but I don't understand why this is not working this time. There is a remarkable observation is that previously I had got xs-nocache.js and my JSNI method inside that. This I am not getting now. One more thing I would like to know that what is the role of cache.js? Can anybody provide me what is mistake/is this workable or not. Re:how to work with xs-linker in gwt
Hi, My need is like cross-site implementation. Actually I have an HTML which display two buttons. Please make a note here that this HTML(external) could not be included in GET component. On click of buttons , I wanted to call GET component. My approach is to call a java native method with some parameter written in GET java file , where onModuleLoad is there on the click of Buttons. My native method works well if we run GET separately. But when i go for integration with HTML this does not wrk. Now I compile the GET code using xs linker and included no-cache.js in my external HTML. I expect to make a call to GET java JSNI method. Months back I have tried , I succeeded. But currently this is not. I don't what I am missing. One markable point is that moths back I got my native method inside no-cache.js. Any way, basically the only difference between the standard and the cross-site compiler is: - std compiler generates files 'xxx.cache.html' (javascript is inside a tag). This files are inserted in an iframe by the xxx.no.cache.js. This doesnt work if the xxx.cache.html cames from a domain different of your application.html. - xd compiler generates files 'xxx.cache.js' that 'xxx.no-cache.js' inserts in your page creating a javascript link. This technique works for cross-site. I think , the main reason for using the standard compiler is because some browser versions (IE) dont work fine with gziped js. Re: Fw: how to work with xs-linker in gwt
Hi Thanks eggsy for a alternative.I ll take try on this. I have already added "xs" linker and then compile the GWT source. After that I am using compiled code in our HTML( including no-cache.js ) for calling JNSI method call. Actually a couple of months back, I got succeeded in same way but this time i am not. The most crucial point for me is that time i was able to see my JSNI java method in no-cache.js which this time it's not. Please let us know if i am wrong in approach or anybody having any alternative. Re: how to work with xs-linker in gwt
Hi, I am trying the same, But unfortunately this does not work. Please have a check on my approach , Though I am not suspected. I have put my compiled code in my required directory and included nocache.js to html stuffs then i am calling a native function defined in GWT component. This does not make a call to respective function. Please correct me if i am wrong in my approach. Regards, Manish - Original Message - From: "eggsy84" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Google Web Toolkit" Sent: Wednesday, November 19, 2008 2:36 PM Subject: Re: how to work with xs-linker in gwt Hi there No thats fine you can compile your GWT into Java using the GWT Hosted browser and providing you have the linker this will compile Cross Site compatible Javascript and then you can include the compiled up Javascript on any HTML page. EG: You may compile your GWT application up on machine A then make a web page on machine B and include the compiled up javascript file from Machine A on the web page on machine B. What doesn't work is when you try to communicate with a foreign server within hosted mode so basically when you're testing before you compile your Java to javascript you have to communicate with a server on the local machine. Hi, I have just taken a look on the link content, this seems quite useful.I will go through in details now. Thanks for much needed stuffs floated on the web. Do you mean that we can not do xs-compile in hosted mode.We understand that we would have to test on different browser. The way i want to do is that we want to include nocache.js to our HTML stuffs and call a JNSI method to invoke GWT utilities. Please correct me if i am wrong in my understanding. Or simply set up a test environment (tomcat locally or something) on your local machine. how to work with xs-linker in gwt
Hi, While working to make a call to GWT from a eternal HTML using JSNI method , I am trying to compile our code using xs-linker. I don't understand why this does not work. I made an entry in for xs-linker in -gwt.xml then compile the our code in hosted browser. Can anybody please hint me what I am missing? One more thing I would like to confirm with all of you about my approach. My sole purpose is to add our compiled javascript code to HTML( external ) at any location. The way I expected is that my JSNI method will be available in xs-nocache.js (included in HTML). Can anybody please confirm on this? Drawing MultiColumnFormPanel with HTML Editor or RichTextArea
Hi EveryBody, Sorry for a basic problem. I tried to do this myself but I have no way to proceed. My problem is that I am try a get a MulticolumnFormPanel including HTML editor or RichTextArea Which is displayed on a PopUpPanel. Please make a note that I don't want to use any external html though we have no problem to include css or javascript which as of I know we can do by GWT API. My codes are as follows : PopupPanel popup = new PopupPanel(); popup.center(); popup.add(createAddCommentForm()); popup.show(); private Panel createAddCommentForm() { Panel panel = new Panel(); FormPanel formPanel = new FormPanel(); formPanel.setFrame(true); formPanel.setTitle("Model Component Comments - "+ new Date() ); formPanel.setPaddings(5, 5, 5, 0); formPanel.setWidth(600); formPanel.setLabelAlign(Position.TOP); Panel topPanel = new Panel(); topPanel.setLayout(new ColumnLayout()); Panel columnOnePanel = new Panel(); columnOnePanel.setLayout(new FormLayout()); TextField loginName = new TextField("Login Name : ", "user"); columnOnePanel.add(loginName, new AnchorLayoutData("45%")); TextField loginPasswd = new TextField("Login Password : ", "passwd"); columnOnePanel.add(loginPasswd, new AnchorLayoutData("45%")); topPanel.add(columnOnePanel, new ColumnLayoutData(.5)); formPanel.add(topPanel); HtmlEditor htmlEditor = new HtmlEditor("Comments", "comments"); htmlEditor.setHeight(200); formPanel.add(htmlEditor, new AnchorLayoutData("90%")); formPanel.addButton(new Button("Save")); formPanel.addButton(new Button("Cancel")); panel.add(formPanel); return panel; } Using the above mentioned code I am able to get the form but not in good look. Major issues are titles, labels do not come with grey background. HTML editor toolbar buttons do not come up correctly. This shows only grey background mark without pic. As far as I understand , I need to apply css or java script. But how I am not able to get? Can anybody please help me out. Is this possible without using any external HTML. Http Request Method PUT in GWT Request Builder
Hi Everybody, Thanks all of you for continuous help and support. I have been working on gwt for 1 months back. I have learnt a lot from this Forum. Right now, I am completely stuck off at on point. Invoke GWT Entry point from extrenal java script included in separate/external HTML
Hi everybody, Thanks all for great co-operation and support. I am a bit new to GWT Though i have learnt a lot from this mailing-list in last couple of weeks I am stuck up with How to call GWT component ( mean to say ,give the the control to GWT entry point class for excuting onModuleLoad ) from extrenal HTML document. While working on integartion of GWT with external component, I am bit confused. My requirement is like this : I have a html displayed in the browser which is having mutiple buttons. This HTML is not part of GWT .This is being displayed in browser by some other component(currently .Net). On click of HTML Button in the browser I want to call gwt component that makes a call either to external tomcat server or displayes GWT widgets (widget button click , it also makes a call to external tomcat). One more thing is that can I have mutiple HTML for a single entry point so I can display various widget on requirement.I want to handle mutiple condition in a single own entrypoint class( inside the method onModuleLoad ) . Can anybody please provide ideas to get rid of this. Re: * No source code is available for type java.io.BufferedWriter; did you forget to inherit a required module?*
Hi Lothar, Thank you for providing such great help. The Actual requirements is to add the comments for each item appeared on the browser. I have created a richtextArea with the buttons for entering the comments for each clicked item shown on the browser. Now, once click over the buttons, It should be submitted to web server( tomcat ) already running for the whole product to save in the server filesystem. This is external webserver not gwt tomcat web server. The main issue is that jsp existed on external webserver accepts only file path to save the comments content. So I am force to create file having comments for each clicked item on the browser. For avoiding the creating files on client, I had suggested no (1) mentioned below. Is this right fit? . Sorry to ask Once more about (2) as I am bit confused , does RPC mechanisnm work on production environment also. If yes ,Can I process as mention in (2). Please provide your views for the same. Re: * No source code is available for type java.io.BufferedWriter; did you forget to inherit a required module?*
Hi Everybody, Thank you all of providing much needed support. Though I have implemented this by calling external java script using JSNI , I would like to change the way if it doesn't last long. Actually,I wanted to send the request parameters for file information to Tomcat webserver( already implemented for whole application. ). But The main problem is that I have to use already existing jsp which takes only file path. So, 1) Would this be good if I write a servlet on webserver which would write the file and use sendredirect to jsp? 2) Can I make a call rpc call to my own servlet in gwt tomcat server which will write a file and sendredirect to my jsp on application web server.? But , As per my study , rpc call is only for debugging so, it wouldn't valid for production server.is this correct.? 3) or, as one of u suggested , write a applet with extended signature and use some magic of JSNI.( for this, can anybody provide some more detail. ) please provide the suggestions and ideas if any others. Re: * No source code is available for type java.io.BufferedWriter; did you forget to inherit a required module?*
Hi everybody, * That link is for Java classes that can be used on the client side, not the server side. On the server side you can use any Java classes you want. * This seems a bit confusive statement. As per my knowledge ,Packages mention in JRE Emulation for GWT on this location (http://code.google.com/docreader/#p=google-web-toolkit-doc-1-5&s=google-web-toolkit-doc-1-5&t=RefJreEmulation )are applied to Both server as well as client. And also, for the same functionalitiy, I came to knew that we can call a external java script function (resposible for creating and writing files) inside a GWT Code (client side) using JSNI .Is this a good solution? Please correct if I am wrong at any point. * No source code is available for type java.io.BufferedWriter; did you forget to inherit a required module?*
Hi everybody, Thanks all of you for providing continuos support to each other. I am trying to write a file on GWT Client ( inside the method onModuleLoad )using BufferedWriter and FileWriter. The problem is that It is compiled successfuly but on the run time it gives : * No source code is available for type java.io.BufferedWriter; did you forget to inherit a required module?* * No source code is available for type java.io.FileWriter; did you forget to inherit a required module?* * No source code is available for type java.io.IOException; did you forget to inherit a required module?* These seem a bit sily errors as I might not have included some required module or jar file,But troubling me a lot. I am using eclipse IDE and added all the jars to avoid any compilation error. And also is there any certian way to add module/lib/classpath for the same. Usually I use *configure Build Path* and manual edit of gwt.xml. Does this make any difference? Can anybody please help me out to simulate which is the required for the same? Thanking in advance. Regarding JNSI/make a call to GWT Widgets on click of HTML Buttons.
Hi Thank all of you for providing continuos help and advice by this group. I am new to this group.I have just put my hands on integration of my existing HTML with GWT. My very initail requirement is to show a GWT pop-up message box on click of HTML Button element( This HTML Button component is pre-exist and made using HTML Tags ). As I had some idea about JNSI , I tried with it But I don't succeed due to not having much exposure. Can anybody please provide pseudo code for JNSI ( if applicable )or any other way of implementation. Thank you in advance.
