With "speakup.(or _)synth=apollo" you mean neither
"speakup.synth=apollo" nor "speakup_synth=apollo" work for you?

The speakup modules aren't part of the initramfs but instead are
loaded on request in userspace.

What does happen if you manually invoke 'modprobe speakup_apollo'
after booting? You have speakup-modules-2.6.31-grml installed on
your box, right?

[Grml] update-initramfs kernel upgrade

2009-10-11 Thread Dietmar Segbert
Hello,

i want to upgrade my kernel from 2.6.23 to 2.6.31. So i upgrade my grml on
my external usb-harddisk as follows:

1. strat grml
2. edit /etc/apt/sources-list and set the germl and debian to unstable
3. aptitude dist-upgrade
4. install the kernel 2.6.31-grml wth this modules as described in an
earlier mail from mika
5. update-initramfs -c -t -k 2.6.31-grml

6 starting from dos with linld097 image=vml2631 initrd=i2631.gz "cl=root=/
dev/sda5 speakup.(or _)synth=apollo blind nodhpc vga=normal"

But the system will not start. If i unpack the initrd-file, i did not
found the speakup-modules.

What must i do to become speakup to work with my apollo-synthesizer?

Regards

Dietmar
