[guadec-list] Cool Stuff at GUADEC
Hi, I'm currently preparing an order of GUADEC t-shirts. Looking at the design [1], I and the vendor agreed that the most fitting colour is real turquoise. So we chose a kind of t-shirt that has this colour [2]. The problem is that this kind only has unisex cuts. Is unisex OK or should we look for kinds that have women's cut even at the cost of having to pick another colour? I'd also like to ask if we want to produce other cool stuff that would be available for purchase at the registration desk. I've got reliable and cheap vendors to produce virtually everything. Stickers, buttons, pillows [3], mugs, hats,... It could be a nice additional income for GNOME Foundation and people would have some nice souvenirs to take home. But if we want to produce something, we will have to work on it soon. I personally felt it was something between Atoll and Real Turquoise and decided for turquoise, but it could also be Atoll and if it's closer to what you envisioned, then the problem is solved. I would also like to hear Kat's thoughts on the color choice. If I recall correctly, the color choice of last years FOSDEM ladies shirt was quite popular (to the extent that several men complained about not getting the nice color :) BTW we're planning to order around 40 red t-shirts for organizers and volunteers, but if you have a better colour idea, it's welcome. I can order any colour that is in the catalogue. Also, I assume you want a proper pdf of this print with exact measures. I'll send that in a separate mail. Yes please, send it to me. We want them to wear those t-shirts and to say visually we care. We have been doing it since 2006 and it makes a difference. Kathy Sierra wrote about this after being our keynote in 2006: http://headrush.typepad.com/creating_passionate_users/2006/12/tech_tshirts_ar.html The relevant part is this one: Yes, you could argue that as a web-focused show rather than a pure programming event, Webstock was likely to have more women than JavaOne, so it made sense. And that's true, but doesn't explain why I also got a fitted, flattering, rather sexy blue tee at GUADEC (the GNOME user's and developer's european conference) which was not expecting but a very few women attendees. But they treated us like we mattered too. Like we weren't the tacked-on not-really-target-audience people. Besides, this isn't even a gender thing... it's a SIZE thing. There are plenty of men who don't look that much better in an XXL Hanes Beefy T than I do. Personally, I rarely buy conference men t-shirts because I have too many. But if there are nice women t-shirts, I buy for my wife. -- Germán Poo-Caamaño http://calcifer.org/ signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ guadec-list mailing list guadec-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/guadec-list
