Guix translation to pt-br using new template available

2015-05-12 Thread Daniel Pimentel
Hi Guix, it follow in attached the Guix translated to PT-BR. My little
contribution.

In the momment I can't commit in repository oficial (savannah), so i
sent in attach.

I'm from Brazil (native), but using my computers in english language.
So, I believe for some beginners users that Guix and GuixSD in lot of
language is cool, so I started in my language :)

I contribute for Free Software and Guix in my state and country with
talks, install, build package (in soon I'll send to hydra repository)
and others.

With 'gtk+', it will:
1. use gtk-update-icon-cache to build a index-theme.cache (ok)
2. use gtk-encode-symbolic-svg to convert symbolic SVGs to PNGs (failed)

The reason is gtk-encode-symbolic-svg lacks librsvg support for
gdk-pixbuf, maybe we should wrap it with GDK_PIXBUF_MODULE_FILE.

The gnome-icon-theme was renamed to adwaita-icon-theme after 3.12,
So, I think the 'synopsis' and 'description' applied too.

I plan to fix the 'gtk-encode-symbolic-svg' and remove the
'alist-delete'.

Call for screenshots

2015-05-12 Thread Ludovic Courtès
Hello!

I would be grateful if people could contribute a bunch of screenshots of
current master in the spirit of those found at
, but rather using
Xfce this time (it has to be clear that it’s GuixSD running.)

Those who have commit access are welcome to commit directly to
screenshots/0.8.2 in the CVS web page repo.

Any takers?

Ludo’, hopeful. :-)

Could you run “make guix-tarball.x86_64-linux.tar.xz” before and after,
and report the size difference?

> Should this go to core-updates or so?

No, because it’s not an update of a core package (“core” in the sense
that everything depends on it.)

It would be nice to add a margin comment saying that this is for ‘guix
download’.

I’d like to check the tarball size before making the decision. It’s
probably fine to increase it somewhat, since it’s a useful addition, but
not too much.

Why is this ‘alist-delete’ needed? Perhaps you just need to expound the
comment.

Also, I think specific ‘synopsis’ and ‘description’ need to be provided.

WDYT?

New template for 'guix-packages' made available

2015-05-12 Thread Translation Project Robot
Hello, gentle maintainer.

This is a message from the Translation Project robot. (If you have
any questions, send them to .)

A new POT file for textual domain 'guix-packages' has been made available
to the language teams for translation. It is archived as:

http://translationproject.org/POT-files/guix-packages-0.8.2.pot

Whenever you have a new distribution with a new version number ready,
containing a newer POT file, please send the URL of that distribution
tarball to the address below. The tarball may be just a pretest or a
snapshot, it does not even have to compile. It is just used by the
translators when they need some extra translation context.

Below is the URL which has been provided to the translators of your
package. Please inform the translation coordinator, at the address
at the bottom, if this information is not current:

http://www.fdn.fr/~lcourtes/tmp/guix-0.8.2tp.tar.gz

We can arrange things so that translated PO files are automatically e-mailed
to you when they arrive. Ask at the address below if you want this.

Thank you for all your work,

The Translation Project robot, in the
name of your translation coordinator.

[PATCH] gnu: guix-0.8.1: Add gnutls to propagated inputs.

2015-05-12 Thread Taylan Ulrich Bayırlı/Kammer
It came up on IRC that the guix package should probably propagate
gnutls, since it's required by 'guix download' for HTTPS URLs.

Should this go to core-updates or so?

Web site’s download page

2015-05-12 Thread Ludovic Courtès
Hello!

The “download” page of the new web site mentions the USB images and the
source tarball. However, 0.8.2 will additionally provide binary
tarballs, one per supported architecture (4 in total)¹.

How would you suggest presenting that on the download page?

Feel free to hack directly on the website’s repo if that’s convenient
for you.

Thanks,
Ludo’.

Daemon update

2015-05-12 Thread Ludovic Courtès
Commit 1303a4a fixes a use-after-free in the daemon that manifested when
compiling it with GCC 5.1 (string destructors were called before
‘execve’ calls that used the underlying ‘char *’ pointers.)

The fix is a backport of an upstream commit. I plan to update our copy
of the Nix daemon code eventually, but it seemed wiser to do that after
the release, hence this backport.

Please report any issues.

Thanks,
Ludo’.
