Re: [Gvsig_english] Export map as image

2011-03-24 Thread Wolfgang Qual
Dear Trieste,

you could try to use print button. Within the printer's dialogue, activate
print-to-file.
I converted the resulting ps-file into pdf using the ps2pdf-command
(standard application under linux).
Interestingly, this pdf-file looked better than the one that was created
using the pdf/ps-export function of gvSIG (see also:
http://gvsig-munich.dyndns.org/wp/2011/02/strange-colours/). It may be a
good idea to set the quality of the output map to high quality before a
ps-file is created.

pdf-files can be nicely imported in GIMP. Here, you may do some clipping,
processing and conversion tasks (e.g. save as png, jpg, tiff, etc.). Of
course, it would be better, if there were some more export-options within
gvSIG (with good results)

Hope that helps,
Wolfgang

[Gvsig_english] adding new NMEA input to gvSig Mobile

2011-03-24 Thread Marcel Schoolmeesters
Dear developers at list,

I've got a few questions again, this time in direct relation to the
source code:

1.) if I want to add buttons to a toolbar (e.g. the gps toolbar), what
can I do, if the width exceed the device resolution? not only in Eclipse
(there I could change the resolution) but also on a mobile device? I
don't want to add a new toolbar or delete another button. Is there any
option?

2.) if I want to add values from another NMEA message to the StatusBar
or better, add a new Statusbar above (without hiding) the gpsBar, how
can I do that? is there any option to add a second StatusBar while
pushing another Button for example? the StatusBar could be a little
smaller, but I want to see GPS values AND my own values together. I have
tried to add a StatusBar (Id = 2), but it always hides the gpsBar.

Alternative:
If that would be difficult or too many functions have to be changed, I
would like to add the values to the same bar. I have already added some
text to it, but I don't get any values from a new NMEA-line. I've added
the identifier to the GPSNmeaDataProcessor and added variables to the
RelevantEventListener and set/get-functions to the GPSFix class...but
the function gpsNewPosition() respectively the fireGPSNewPosition()
does not seem to work after adding the new values. Even the old text
(longitude/latitude) won't be displayed.
The propertyChange(PropertyChangeEvent event) seems to have problems
with those values, as they are missing in GPSPosition (defined in
gpsinput.jar).
I think the missing gpsinput.jar should be changed then if I want to
add my values to GPSPosition...is there any option to do that or what
would be the easiest way without gpsinput? writing an own input ?

Thank you in advance for any help,

Regards,

Marcel

2011-03-24 Thread Falk Krusche
Hello Wolfgang,

thanks for this good idea to print a map to a ps file. The pdf/ps export
function was till today the only way I knew to get my ready maps into
desktop publishing software.

For those, who want tro try it out: You need to install a ps driver
first (see http://www.hawaii.edu/askus/637 for an easy explanation).

 Dear gvSIG-team,

thank you very much for releasing this new (sub)version.
Is it possible to get some information on Add-ons installer (beta). - are
 there already add-ons available?
 Short reply would be great!

Hi Wolfgang,
the Add-ons installer seems to work fine! :-) I've successfully
installed the normalization and remote sensing extensions and they are
loaded correctly after restarting gvSIG.
On the other side, SEXTANTE (not tested by gvSIG team) is not working
fine as it did in gvSIG 1.10 and the cachedir/packages dirs + field
calculator problem (on Vista and 7) is not fixed yet. In the first
case, the workaround consists into deleting es.unex.sextante directory
and replacing it with the one coming with gvSIG 1.10 (or with a newer
version). In the second, we need to start gvSIG as administrator and
launch the Jython console.

Cheers,
Antonio

 Hello Wolfgang.

The aim of this tool is just to allow the user to easily add to gvSIG
 whatever add-on (e.g. plug-ins, symbols, manuals, etc.) from a
repository or directly from a file.

So far the repository has those plug-ins that has an individual
installer (network, normalization, remote sensing, topology...).

The tool is still under development (obviously it must be improved) but
we decided to include it in gvSIG 1.11 as we consider it was
interesting. The main thing the user should take in account is to be
careful with non-official and/or devel add-ons. They may cause errors.

Hi Manuel,
I think it was a good idea to include it in gvSIG 1.11 (not only in
2.0)! gvSIG user manual inclusion (available in the help menu) is
another great improvement! Many thanks.

Cheers,
Antonio

Hi Antonio,

We have made some changes in the sextante integration with gvSIG to
allow working with bigger raster files and also some performance
optimizations, but it seems there's something wrong with it.

Could you give us more info about the errors do you have while using
sextante?

Thanks in advance,

[Gvsig_english] Projecting EPSG 27700 British National Grid to overlay EPSG 4326 (WGS 1984)

2011-03-24 Thread liam391
Hello,

I am a novice student user of GvSig having used it for basic mapping and
geoprocessing for about a year.

I have Raster files in WGS 1984 coordinate system (from Seazone) and I wish
to overlay them with shapefiles in EPSG 27700 British National Grid (these
are from SNH natural spaces and are available free
http://gateway.snh.gov.uk/pls/htmldb_ddtdb1/f?p=101:1:7172302134011178865).

I have tried to use the reproject tool on the shapefiles but so far I have
found that either no transformation is available, or GvSig has crashed when
I have tried to perform one. Projecting on the fly does not seem to work;
attempting to reproject the raster to match the view projection causes a
crash and error message. I am running GvSig 1.10 on windows 64 bit.

I apologise for the basic question, but haven't found a solution that I've
understood when looking through the forums,

Thanks

Liam

Hi Cèsar,
for instance, when I try to rasterize a vector layer, a
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException occurs which doesn't allow to
execute the process successfully. Here's the sextante.log attached.
