I was able to get a super zoom by going to the Prado Museum's websitecheck out those pleats on Durer's self portrait. Re: [h-cost] Silk Velvet seller in U.S.?
I haven't had a reason to order the velvet yet, but I've looked at it. I'd email them and ask about it, I've always gotten a quick response from them. Thanks - I have a U.S. spy working on that aspect for me already - so much easier than doing it myself!! Suzi Let me know what they find out. I've got a couple of projects the velvet would work for. I saw this today and it sounds like it would be cool for historical costume research based on paintings. So far it is only 1 museum and 14 paintings but the article implies they'll add more eventually. http://tech.yahoo.com/news/ap/20090113/ap_on_hi_te/eu_spain_google_art "Spain's Prado Museum has teamed up with Google Earth for a project that allows people to zoom in on the gallery's main works — even on details not immediately discernible to the human eye." Re: [h-cost] Silk Velvet seller in U.S.?
> Has anyone dealt with this company? I am told I can get 100% silk velvet here. > http://www.silkbaron.com/silk/ Hi Suzi! I've bought from them. My bleach test suggests that it's not 100% silk - that the PILE is silk while the backing is not (which is the reverse of most silk-velvets one can buy at "reasonable" prices). I still bought my fabric from them, and they were very nice about it all, and the fabric arrived quickly. (It ships from LA, so I can't comment on the speed it gets across the Atlantic). I recommend ordering swatches, the colors on my monitor didn't look much like the in-person colors. -sunny ___ h-costume mailing list h-costume@mail.indra.com http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume

Cumberbuns are an easy option. So, the vest was made of linen? Would satin or silk be acceptable? Can I make a vest in some other color than black? If so, does the tie need to match?
