Re: [h-cost] Blanche Paynes book with patterns

Sounds about right. Mine has 43 different patterns...if that helps and
indeed there is a pattern for the wedding suit of King Frederick of
Denmark (1743) and a Gold Embroidered Wool Dress c1690. Looks like it
could be a mantua, but isn't called one directly.

The patterns at the bottom are numbered then lettered. So if
the pattern takes 3 pages it's labelled like 1a, 1b, 1c.

Kia ora Bjarne,

That does indeed sound like the Patterns in Payne. There is
also a line drawing of the Danish Mantua (please forgive me,
I'm away from my computor and so can't spell the correct
name.)

The patterns at the bottom are numbered then lettered. So if
the pattern takes 3 pages it's labelled like 1a, 1b, 1c.

I would be very greatfull if anybody could tell me a little more of these
patterns.
Some years ago i photocopyed some patterns from a book at the library, and
just wondered if these are from the book of Blanche Payne.
There is the cut of the wool mantua and a pattern of an 18th century dress
made in silk faille, jacket and skirt. Also the cut of Frederik V's, wedding
suit also a francaise dress and there are photos of the actual garments.
Just in case that i didnt need to buy the book, i am only interrested in the
patterns, if i dont have them already.

Would be very gratefull if some could give me a clue
