They used to use bookmarks.html then .xhtml now it's in an SQLite database. That should be all you need - I wonder if it's in the wrong format. It's .mozilla/firefox (yet _another_ change in name) on my debian box. Alternatively try the amazing, wonderful foxmarks plugin. I used it to sync my laptop and desktop and it does a terrific job. I actually run it against my own server (webdav) so it's not using deltas to send the bookmarks (which it does if you use formarks own server) but I want my bookmarks to be private. It even worked perfectly when was setting it up (about 800 common bookmarks and 50 new ones on each). Re: [Hampshire] Restoring firefox bookmarks
Hi, I had a similar problem with Thunderbird. On the build I had the settings directory was called something different. I checked on my Etch machine and it was called .mozilla/firefox on that so maybe not. When you copied the files across did you copy the ownership and permissions? If the user IDs of the accounts are different it may be that you can't access the settings because Lenny thinks they don't belong to you. An ls -lad .mozilla should show the ownership. If you see numbers instead of a username and group name then I think you've found it. You can fix it by: ls - l (See what the owner and group of most of your files are) su - (Enter root password) cd ~yourusername chown -R yourusername.yourgroupname .mozilla Cheers, Paul. --Original Message-- From: Stephen Nelson-Smith Sender: hampshire-boun...@mailman.lug.org.uk To: Hampshire LUG Mailing List ReplyTo: Hampshire LUG Mailing List Subject: [Hampshire] Restoring firefox bookmarks Sent: 10 Feb 2009 02:49 I've rebuilt a machine that was Ubuntu 8.04 with Debian Lenny.
