You would be subscribed to an HFCC service, which would send you weekly mail.containg the part of the up-to-date schedule that you are interested in (like a set of stations, for example BBC WS, or a set of languages, or particluar target areas). Sorry, but this discussion is now in the realms of fantasy. HFCC is not a subscription service for DXers. As a professional body it is not set up to provide a service to end users. The downloadable files are a subset of HFCC data provided free as a byproduct, and as a courtesy to DXers, but a subscription service would never work. I estimate that the worldwide *potential* market for such a service would be less than 1000, and of those less than 100 would actually be prepared to pay. There's no way that such a service could ever break even. If there was, someone would already have done it! .but I was horrified to discover that the CODAR surface-wave radar sweeper, which normally bothers only WJCR on 13595, had shifted upward to range between roughly 13605 and 13655. Hope this isn`t permanent; why can`t it stay below 13595, anyway? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST). Thomas KN4LF Says: I heard same yesterday morning on 13655 kc but it was weaker then RCI. I also hear it on 4840 kc +/- from late afternoon through late morning. It sounds a bit different then the one on 13600 kc +/- though. Being Nostalgic: Speaking of programs on shortwave, about the only ones left that I regularly listen to are Sunday Morning and Quirks and Quarks both on RCI. I also listen allot to the endless parade of bizarre and unique programming on WBCQ while working in my website design business. I still listen to news on the BBC and at times the VOA but neither are impartial and independent. Otherwise in my personal opinion the programming quality on RCI, VOA, BBC and Radio Australia has really gone down the tubes. Also I really miss the many long gone low power 49 meter HF stations from Mexico, also 120, 90 and 60 meter stations from Central America like R. Belize, African stations like Botswana and Pacific stations like WSZO in the Marshall Islands, etc. I can remember when the tropical bands were jam packed with stations. I think that shortwave broadcasting was at it's zenith prior to the end of the Cold War and it's been all down hill since. 73, Thomas F. [HCDX] Myster from New Zealand..
Hi, Monday morning 11/24at 0615 UTC (Sunday night 11/23 here in New Mexico) I decided to play around with my little $10 Bell and Howell SW radio. I picked up a very strong signal of what was a BBC broadcast that I heard earlier --so I thought I had the BBC. A station id broke in for National Radio. Intrigued, I listened all the way to 0700 and beyond, and found out that this was National Radio from New Zealand! It was around 15600 on the analog dial of the B H. While listening I tried to find this station on my Grundig YB400PE. I tried my two longwire antennas (each about 50 ft running NS and EW with coax feeds)) then the shorter one (about 22' with an alligator to the whip). Well, I couldn't bring this station in on the Grundid with with any of my antennas! Meanwhile, it's blasting away on the little B H! I've been having very poor luck with getting RNZI since the schedule change and Australia is only now coming back. So I was VERY surprised to get National Radio from NZ! I checked the website and it does seem that this indeed is what I heard last night. I really don't know the exact frequency, however, since the BH has only the broadly marked analog tuning. Could anybody lend some insight into this National Radio frequencyand the weird conditions that enabled me to hear this and yet get either very poor or no signal out of RNZI (which used to come in like gangbusters!)... and also, not be able to pick up National Radio on the Grundig?? [HCDX] Unid on 7335 kHz
I heard unidentified station on 7335 kHz on the 16th of November at 1830-1930 utc. The language, I think, was close to somali and the programme contained various mentions of Somalia. Part of the programme included Quran recitations. . According to Sam Voron this is not Galkayo since they are now using 6980 kHz.
