[HCDX] GNE Bata 5005 kHz at 0508 UT Oct 15

2016-10-14 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel

GUINEA ECUATORIAL 5005.001 GNE Radio from Bata heard with fair S=7
or -81dBm signal in our morning greyline towards Europe, a lot of music
pieces played in 0505 to 0516 UT time slot.

But signal suffered heavily by UTE station on 5006.0 kHz as high speed RTTY
two tone signal of 240 Hertz distance apart peaks seen,
latter S=8-9 strength here in southern Germany.

[HCDX] Glenn Hauser logs October 14-15, 2016

2016-10-14 Thread Glenn Hauser via Hard-Core-DX
** CUBA. 5025, Oct 15 at 0041, S9+25 open carrier, dead air except for lite
whine from R. Rebelde (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EAST TURKISTAN [and non]. 7425, Oct 15 at 0026, W conversation in English,
with some Mandarin interjexions, soon confirmed as CRI, since it`s // but about
one second ahead of 6020 via ALBANIA. 7425 is 100 kW, 174 degrees from Kashgar
for S Asia during this hour only, so surprisingly good here at S9+15 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 9895, Oct 14 at 2035, motorboating atop some unintelligible talk
modulation, S5 fading to S1. It`s the French disservice of R. Caire, 2000-2115,
200 kW, 325 degrees from Abis, consequently USward (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** NICARAGUA. 539.80 approx., Oct 15 at 0056, hearing a het about here to 540
stations. Maybe Spanish, but too tough to split it off from XEWA 40
Principales. Have been alert for this since reports from Terry Krueger in FL of
Managua`s R. Corporación on 539.83 as of Oct 3; and finally at least I`m
getting the het/carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 9460, Oct 14 at 2036, S8 Turkish music, as TRT Turkish to Europe at
16-21 is now carrying on to North American beyond; similar music and signal
from Greece on 9420 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15220 & 11720, Oct 14 at 2022, VOA Kriyòl service is strangely
playing a song in English, a few KK announcements, 2024 more music until 2030
sign-off, carrier off at 2031*: the final outsending of this 5-day revival
post-Mathieu SW series, perhaps until another disaster (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1847 monitoring: confirmed Friday Oct 14 at
2330 on WBCQ, 9330.131v-CUSB, fair. Next:
Sat 0630 HLR 6190-CUSB to SW
Sat 0800 Unique Radio NSW 3210 ND
Sat 1300 Unique Radio NSW 3210 ND

Mon 0330 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Mon 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 1100 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 2130 WRMI 15770 to NE
Tue 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Wed 1315.5 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7730, UT Sat Oct 15 at 0022, WRMI is yet again replaying the CDXA
special from early August in tribute to Ecos del Torbes, followed at 0030 by
another `Wavescan` repeat, which now shows on the skedgrid, while remains
blank (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490+, UT Sat Oct 15 circa 0015, WBCQ `Allan Weiner Worldwide` in
phone conversation asserting he`s still backing Trump; also delayed on 5129.85,
but no signal circa 3250 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9275, Fri Oct 14 at 2038, no signal from WMLK. It was originally
running until 2100* but I`ve seen some other reports lately of closing around
2000* so presumably it hasn`t broken down yet again. It will take Sabbathday
off, so check next Sunday from *1600 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1380, Oct 15 at 0048 UT, mixture of weak stations including one in
Spanish, so perhaps KRCM Shenandoah TX (Houston market) be back in whack, with
43 or 50 watts night instead of 22,000 watts day power? OTOH, NRC AM Log shows
there`s another SS religious Texan on 1380, KWMP Pleasanton, (San Antonio
market), 4000/160 U5 which should have a chance now if KRCM be legal. Will
check further for usual bigsig tantamount to a European service from KRCM
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

[HCDX] 6120 kHz Rádio Universo - Problema resolvido TX Localizado - São Paulo | SP

2016-10-14 Thread Daniel Wyllyans

erro no site
http://www.radio-america-latina.org/am/fm.php?itu=Brasil=SP em 1300
kHz ZYK535 Rádio Universo São Bernardo do Campo * 100 / 1
baixo.Somente o link está correto sim.

[HCDX] propagation disturbed in 22-23 UT range tonight, very poor signals from the westerly direction of Cuban and US domestic/religious outlets.

2016-10-14 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel

But powerful signals received from Saudi Arabia, AIR, CHN Kashgar, FEBC PHL,
Tinang, KRE, Oman, and

TAIWAN on 9450 kHz at 2230 UT,
2 x 9 kHz powerful signal = 18 kHz wide.

GUINEA 9650 kHz, much fluttery S=9 at 2235 UT.

EGYPT 9800 Radio Cairo, one of these much disturbed audio signals from that
country these days. At 2240 UT on Oct 14, S=9+5dB in southern Germany, a
broadband garden fence like 24 signal peaks visible, in each 50 Hertz apart
distance, either sideband.

[HCDX] REE Noblejas 15390 faulty TX - transmission tonight

2016-10-14 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel

SPAIN When checked RAE signal in 19 mb, I came across of a technical very
faulty bcast outlet from REE Madrid Noblejas on 15390 kHz, til sudden TX off
at 22.03:20 UT on Oct 14.

The signal was 'astonished' broadband of 42 kHz wide (2 x 21 kHz).

REE interval signal still played, when checked 15500 and 17855 kHz channels
after 2204 UT, both of standard 10 kHz bandwidth, S=9 in southern Germany.

ARGENTINA 15345.267 center fq, despite the TX unit wandered 5 - 10 Hertz
up and down around 22.00 UTC. S=8-9 or -73dBm fluttery signal.

Heard ID in Spanish language at 22.00 UT, followed by news on Marti item ...

2016-10-14 Thread Daniel Wyllyans
http://www.portalguajara.com/?p=29351
http://www.guajaranoticias.com.br/index.php?secao=noticias=25=7473 E
em 2016 uma nova direção
http://www.omamore.com.br/2016/01/radio-educadora-de-guajara-mirim-passa.html

The Sony ICF-2001D shortwave receiver (as a spy tool)
by Radio Latino

A numbers station is a special type of unusual radio broadcast, generally on
the Short Wave (SW) radio bands, reading out incomprehensible lists of spoken
numbers or morse coded messages. The most common type features a female voice,
reading long strings of numbers, generally in groups of five, often preceeded
by a preamble and/or a series of musical notes. During the Cold War number
stations were often operated from Eastern Block countries, such as
Czechslovakia, East-Germany (DDR) and Russia (USSR) with their broadcasts aimed
at spies and secret agents operating undercover in West-European countries. The
agents were instructed to listen to specific SW frequencies at fixed days and
times, often using a commercially available SW-receiver from brands like Sony,
Panasonic and Grundig. The Sony ICF-2001D (called ICF 2010 outside Europe), a
commonly available receiver, became really popular amongst the spies during the
1980s.

The first microprocessor controlled travel shortwave radio ICF-2001 introduced
by Sony in the year 1980 initiated a revolution in shortwave travel radio
design. A high performance set had not anymore the size of a 6 - 10 kg suitcase
with a carrying handle, but it came in a pocket book siced cabinet and looked
like a giant pocket calculator. The ICF-2001 was the first shortwave travel
radio featuring direct frequency keypad input together with several electronic
memories and a liquid crystal frequency display. The ICF-2001D (called ICF-2010
outside Europe) was the successor of this successful set and was improved in
several ways to make nearly the perfect shortwave travel portable for many
years. In the similar size cabinet, it was a completely redesigned shortwave
receiver with very high sensitivity, good selectivity, a synchroneous detector
for automated ECSS reception, a large number of memories, scanning functions, a
clock with timer - an in some (non European) variants, it also covers the VHF
Air Band. http://www.shortwaveradio.ch/radio-e/sony-icf2001d-e.htm

Subject: [dxld] Ethiopia and Eritrea

Hi,
following reports on Ethiopian jamming I tried to check how many
frequencies are actually jammed and tried to monitor ERI bc frequencies
also.

After ERI was only found on 7175 during the weekend, it is now on 7146.6
again and on 7185. Jamming usually ends about 1700. I did not yet check
if Deutsche Welle Amharic is also jammed at that time.

1730 VoA Oromo begins. Tonight six frequencies were jammed, one is clear:

Jamming to VoA on 11720 12110 12140 13860 15630 15785

15700 is clear.

Ethiopian regional stations:

6030 kHz Radio Oromiya is usually off air from 1730, also 6090 Radio
Amhara. So it seems to be today also. 5950 Dimtsi Woyane is on air, but
much weaker than to be expected. 6110 is hard to determine as dominated
by PBS Xizang till 1800 and only a weaker signal left afterwards,
seemingly undermodulated.

Also R. Ethiopia 7235v is off before 1800.

All in all, the situation is quite absurd: When Oromo is broadcast,
listeners could listen to the VoA broadcast on at least one freq., while
- if they stick to SW - they will miss "their" government's Oromo
broadcaster. On the other hand, Eritrea seems to broadcast
propaganda/opposition stuff to Ethiopia at earlier times when ETH has
enough "free" transmitters to jam them, while ERI listeners - if they
stick to SW which is pretty unlikely after the long break - will not
find their own tyrants' home service. Why doesn't ERI would simply
broadcast the contents unwanted in Addis Ababa's presidential palace
somewhat later?

Governments... aren't they all a little bit like that?

[DX] VOA Radiogram, program 185, 15-16 October 2016, all in MFSK32 centered on 1500 Hz:

2016-10-14 Thread Kari Kallio
Last weekend's Hawaii lava as received by Anatoly in Russia, Saturday 1600-1630
UTC, 17580 kHz.

Hello friends,
The "unadvertised" MFSK32 signal made another appearance last weekend. Chris in
England heard and decoded MFSK32 from the unknown station at 1555 UTC.
Reception was difficult partly because the VOA carrier from North Carolina
starts at about 1545 UTC, and it was strong into Europe last weekend. Please
listen for, decode, and record if possible any strange MFSK32 signals just
before or after the VOA Radiogram broadcast Saturday at 1600-1630 on 17580 kHz.
This weekend's VOA Radiogram will be all MFSK32. An image after the closing
announcement shows the effects of flooding in North Carolina, near the
transmitter site, following Hurricane Matthew. That will be followed by ASCII
art (use monospace font such as Courier or Consolas). A small logo image and
the waterfall ID will be seen after the closing music (I had an extra minute to
fill).
Here is the lineup for VOA Radiogram, program 185, 15-16 October 2016, all in
MFSK32 centered on 1500 Hz:

1:51 Program preview
3:02 Will electric cars dominate in wealthy cities by 2030?*
8:26 Turkey questions historical treaty defining borders*
15:54 ARRL comments on FCC amateur radio digital mode rules*
23:34 Closing announcements*

* with image

Please send reception reports to radiog...@voanews.com

VOA Radiogram transmission schedule
(all days and times UTC):
Sat 0930-1000 5745 kHz
Sat 1600-1630 17580 kHz
Sun 0230-0300 5745 kHz
Sun 1930-2000 15670 kHz
All via the Edward R. Murrow transmitting station in North Carolina.
The Mighty KBC will transmit to North America Sunday -0200 UTC (Saturday
8-10 pm EDT) on 6145 kHz, via Germany. A minute of MFSK32 will be at about 0130
UTC. Reports to Eric: themighty...@gmail.com .

DigiDX will transmit MFSK32 and probably other modes:
Sunday 2130-2200 UTC, 15770 kHz, via WRMI Florida
Sunday 2330-2400 UTC, 11580 kHz, via WRMI Florida
Monday 2000-2130 UTC, 6070 kHz, via Channel 292 Germany

IBC (Italian Broadcasting Corporation) has a broadcast to Europe on 6070
kHz,Wednesdays, at the new time of 1800-2100 UTC. The MFSK32 and Olivia 16-500
are still at 2030-2100 UTC. IBC has also added a medium wave transmission
Saturday 2000-2030 UTC from Radio Studio X, 1584 kHz, in Terni, Italy, with
MFSK32 at 2025-2030. IBC also has MFSK32 transmissions via WRMI in Florida:
Friday 0125-0200 UTC on 9955 kHz (Thursday 9:25 pm EDT), part of its 0100-0130
broadcast. And Saturday at 0155-0200 UTC (Friday evening 9:55 pm EDT), on 11580
kHz, part of its 0130-0200 broadcast. See

VOA shortwave to Haiti. The VOA Creole (Kreyòl) Service for Haiti is (as I
write this) transmitting on shortwave in support of Hurricane Matthew relief
efforts. The schedule is daily 2000-2030 UTC on 11720 and 15220 kHz, via the
North Carolina transmitting station.
Thanks for your reports from last weekend, during which reception conditions
were unusually good. I'm still responding to program 181 reception reports.

2016-10-14 Thread Glenn Hauser via Hard-Core-DX
** CUBA [and non]. 9565, Oct 14 at 0030, post-Martí jamming noise now mixed
with beeps here too. This time there are not strings, but single beeps at
frequent but irregular intervals, sometimes overlapping. Pitches change from
one to the next; vs JBA carrier, presumably Brasil. At 0035 I listen with BFO
off, and still hear tones of various pitches, so the carriers are not pure CW,
but MCW, with modulation upon them.

9955, Oct 14 at 0038, noise jamming against WRMI is still running, despite back
to English from R. Prague after the R. Libertad hour 23-24. The Commie Cubans
must hold a grudge against the now free Czechs. And mixed with it, some random
beeping here too. Another possible explanation --- beeps are place-holders for
otherwise idling jammers.

BTW, this page has Radio Libertad info right at the top
http://wrmi.net/index.php/programming/
9955 kHz`` besides evenings. But this is either very new or very old, likely
the latter, as 12-13 UT has been occupied for a long time by R. Prague in
English, Eslovaquia en español; as still on the skedgrid, variations on
weekends (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ETHIOPIA [and non]. 7175-7185-7195, Oct 14 at 0353, wideband DRM-style
jamming, implying that VOBMEritrea may have shifted from 7175 to 7185, altho no
AM carrier can be detected anywhere amid this. Thorsten Hallmann confirms that
VOBME was on 7185 the evening of Oct 13. He says jamming usually ends about
1700. I suspect same jammitters are more needed against VOA by 1730.

7140-7145-7150, Oct 14 at 0355, DRM-style noise jamming against the other
VOBME, and here I can detect an AM carrier amid, at 7145.036 instead of 7145.6v
where it had been.

Wolfgang Büschel explains, ``the Ethiopians bought exactly 6 x BBEF Beijing
Made in China units some 8 years ago, which may possibly switch to DRM digital
mode transmission too`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 9600, Oct 14 at 0034 check, still no signal at all from
scheduled MWV broadcast of KNLS English programming to Asia. Have not heard
this for many weeks.

9665, Oct 14 at 0100+, no signal now either from the MWV repeat of KNLS
English, just the Brasilian slightly off-frequency with Mexican music. When MWV
was on, we could at least get a het or tell there was a second carrier.

9480, Oct 14 at 0422 check, zero signal from African Pathways Radio via MWV,
another long-AWOL transmission, while World Christian Broadcasting says nothing
about the long silence, pretending the station is still on the air rather than
a fantasy. Possibly they have quite legit reasons, such as severe technical or
financial problems, but won`t level with their supporters, few of whom actually
have a SW radio. The website promotes how much web traffic they are getting, so
who needs SW? Maybe the language programs continue available there.

Since these are non-logs rather than logs, despite their significance, some
editors will delete them! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 580, UT Fri Oct 14 at 0403, old-time-radio show in Spanish, mentions
``Chucho el Rojo`` (neither name certain!). Loops SSW so presumed XEMU Piedras
Negras, Coahuila, rather than XEFI Chihuahua which I recently logged from the
SW; WIBW Topeka in a fade, then up a bit, but diminished by auroral?
Behindthename.com says Chucho is a diminutive for Jesús (but never applied to
Cristo, I suspect --- ``Chuchocristo``?).

Then I go to XEMU website, and find a sparse programación page,
http://rancherita.com.mx/programacion.html
fortunately including this!

``De 3:00 a 3:30 de la tarde y también a la [sic] 11:00 de la noche de lunes a
viernes. Radio Novela Chucho el Roto``

Roto means broken, rather than Rojo = red. Searching on full name, and then
adding novela, Wikipedia provides:

``Chucho el Roto (1858–1885) was a Mexican bandit active in the late 19th
century, whose life story has been the basis of number of books, plays and
other media since before his death. His real name was Jesús Arriaga...``

Debido a

3,200 episodes over exactly 11 years = 291 per year, more than one a day, if 5
per week, which would need 261. So now, I, and perhaps you, have gained a
learning experience from this brief DX log (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 700, Oct 14 at 0412, Spanish mentions ``Radio Centro``, with WLW
nulled. There is such a station/network in Mexico, but IRCA, WRTH, Cantú
listings don`t draw any

Daniel,

If you don’t want to receive messages related with content shared here, I don’t
think that a public group is the best place for you.

Dislike your Youtube videos? No, I don’t have time neither patience to watch
shaky videos with unreadable talks.

Envy your content? No, for me is better share real content, not electronic
noise as “wonderful” catches.

If it is more important for you pay your internet connection or buy a receiver
than feed your family or buy clothes for you or your daughter, it is none of my
business.

Your behavior show who is crazy.

I'm sure everyone here at Magic 828 will be amazed to hear that we can be clearly picked up as far as Finland.

We hope you enjoyed listening in. If you heard “Playing more music variety, this is Magic”, and was followed by really great music, then you were definitely listening in to us here in South Africa.

If you have some time try tuning in again, or just visit our webpage for the digital stream.

Thanks for letting us know!". JMS
