authorities!

Dear fellow intruder busters,
Radio China, or is it China Radio is back on the air: Today it has been
transmitting all day long from 1000 UTC onward till 1640 UTC (and is still
on) on the QRG 14260 kHz with loud signal.

The BC always switches off at full hour (on the second) and comes back
exactly 5 minutes later. There are no spoken words; it is just a music
program with flutes, drums, violins and gongs, and the whole music is
repeated each hour.

Will you please contact your telecoms. authorities for an International
Complaint? The more complaints, the better!

Fraternally yours in the intruder spotting job,
Ulrich (Uli) Bihlmayer DJ9KR / DL0IW
Vice-Coordinator of IARU-MS Region 1
and Coordinator of DARC-MS

You can't trust the Chinese...

Dear Bill,
dear Chuck,

I was very happy that after my letter to the Chinese Embassy at Berlin on
18...-MHz-amateur radio frequencies (last intrusion was heard July 25 on
18160 kHz) the intrusions seemed to have ceased. SEEMED!

Furthermore, on August 2, I had received a phone call from a Mrs Ju from the
Press Department of the Chinese Embassy in Berlin. She told me that she had
sent all my complaints to the relevant administrations in the P.R. of China.
These officials of these bureaus had excused themselves for having caused
interference to the Amateur Radio Service. Mrs Ju told me, that these
intrusions had to do with ionospheric conditions. (of course!-DJ9KR)

And just now I have got your email re. Chinese intrusions AGAIN. Right now I
am hearing the transmissions on 14260 kHz myseld with S 9 loud and clear in
my radio station. It is only Chinese music with flutes, horns, gongs and
violins. No spoken word, yet.

BTW: 18180 kHz is NOT an Amateur Radio frequency.

I will keep on listening and will ALERT again the Chinese diplomates in
Berlin.
You really can not TRUST the Chinese...

Regards,
Uli

 Good Day Gentlemen,

Guess the Chinese are back at it again, some signal on 14.260 kHz.
 Monitoring report from K1IED.

 Hi
Yesterday Aug 4 at 1200Z they were on 18.180 very strong and today Aug 5
 now
 at 1000Z they are on 14.260Z 59 +
 Larry K1IED (located in Connecticut)

Picked up the spectrum analyzer yesterday, was too hot in the shack to
 look
into it, from the controls on the front it must have a way to transmitt
those frequencies as well as monitor them.I think those figures on the
 dial
are actually SONAR freqencies. More later

The Lithuanian relay of IRIB on 7540, usually very strong here during
English
programme at 1930-2030, was not heard on July 10. Appeared to be off air
throughout the evening. IRIB's English from Iranian transmitters heard as
normal on 6205 and 7205, the former giving the best reception.

2006-07-07 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web

ALBANIA ARTV-VOA / Fllaka story:

I asked today at mid-day our Technical Director Arben Mehilli,
if the requested cancellations of Fllaka services for VOA effective

Fllaka r/station continues up today to broadcast for VOA according
to A06 Schedule as before 1 July 2006.

Then Mr Mehilli called up to the head of Fllaka and gave
the orders to delete from today in the evening the following services
for VOA:

Durres/DUR 0430-0500UTC 1458 KHz 500 kW Croatian
Durres/DUR 0500-0530UTC 1215 KHz 500 kW Albanian
Durres/DUR 1830-1900UTC 1458 KHz 500 kW Albanian

Hi Noel,
This site:

shows LXAA as the callsign for the LW frequency.

None of these calls (LXA, LXAA) seems to be correct, at least in 1958!. The
ITU registered calls for broadcasting are LXRA, LXRE, LXRF LXRG. The ITU
register in 1958 offers other interesting callsigns for broadcasting
stations as these from Germany (Federal Rep.):

Yes, that '29' seems a typing error, was always DMR24.
BR Munich was the only German public bc station, which used that

Re: [HCDX] Transmundial on 4990

2006-05-13 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web
Michael,
das hatten wir letzte Woche diskutiert:
Wirklich Brazil oder CVI via Meyerton-AFS ?
73 wb

UNID 4990 Brazilian.
Unidentified Brazilian last night (Sun 7th May) on 4990 kHz (or a shade
above, say 4990.02). Heard from 2150 tune-in but seemed to disappear at
2204. Weak and noisy. Definitely Portuguese (not Dutch or Spanish) and
typical echoey talk. Fanfare at end(?) of programme 2200 - mentioned
programa 'Sol da ter'.. and possible mention of Goiania. But no ID copied.
Any one know what this could be?
(Alan Pennington-UK, dxld May 7)

Alan ... someone in JPN was also puzzled by this Brazilian station a short
time ago. I suggest that it is actually CVC International via Meyerton
according to an item from Radio Bulgaria DX Mix Nx of April 28th. They
report that CVC operates on 4990 via MEY 100 kW non-directional to
CeSoAfrica in Portuguese at 1905-2205. This is a new freq instead of former
9620. The disappearance of the signal at 2204 coincides with the reported
sign-off.
(Noel R. Green-UK, dxld May 8)

Thanks Noel - eventually found the Christian Voice schedule on the Sentech
website which tallys.(Portuguese definitely sounds Brazilian rather than
African though!):

CHRISTIAN VOICE via Meyerton-AFS

0600-0900 9805 100 Mozambique Portuguese

If anyone can help me ID the following SW station, I'd
be most grateful. Heard April 22, 2006 between 1045
and 1100 UTC on 7.120 mhz. It started off sounding
somewhat like Contemporary Christian music, so I
thought possible Wantok Radio Light from PNG. But,
language didn't sound like English. Abrupt sign-off
in mid-song at 1100 UTC. The only other station
Passport shows CPBS Beijing, and HFCC shows China
Radio International. Click on link below for the
 audio:

[HCDX] 5767 UNID distorted En speaking station

2006-02-05 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web
UNID5766.9 ... 5767 kHz centered frequency for an UNID English speaking
station, noted around 0100-0130 UT on Feb 5th.

Totally distorted signal, like Aurora affected via Northern Atlantic path,
no carrier. Contained very low Upper Side Band portion level. When set the
AOR 7030 and Sony ICF2010 to in LSB mode / SYNC detection mode function,
centered frequency approx. 5766.9 kHz.

We had very, very good propagation condition last night in 22 to 60 mb
range.
A lot of LatAM and Asian stations could be heard on all these overcrowded
bands.

http://myafn.dodmedia.osd.mil/radio/shortwave

shows AFRTS Barrigada-Guam, but I can't believe that path, due of daytime in
Pacific between India, Anchorage and Los Angeles at this time span.

Other stations nearby: 5765 WNQM The Overcomer Ministry Nashville but later
scheduled, 5755 KAIJ Dallas; and 5770 Myanmar Defence Forces.

I believe I heard RRI some times.

Help to solve this puzzle.

Subject: [HCDX] China Jammer?

Hi all,
I tried to hear Kazakhstan on 9355 kHz, but at 17.00 UTC I could hear only a
non stop playing Chinese music station (no talk and no voice song). It was
there for more than an hour and during that hour a Chinese speaking station
was heard better and better on the same frequency. I think that is Taiwan,
so maybe the first station is somewhat trying to jam Taiwan? Does anybody
know what is going on there?

[HCDX] HFCC acts ...

2005-11-28 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web

Wrong coordination policy on 15485 kHz, at least on Sundays, when ERT Delano
is on air too. At 1600-1700 UT Nov 27th, I noted different 3 sender
programmes in different targets, like fighting CVC Santiago, BBCWS Skelton,
and - sundays - ERT Delano CA-USA.

Under specific PHYSICAL conditions, signals will never stop on the various
meant target boundaries.

There are lots of free channels in 19 mb at this time slot.

Similar conflicts in Europe noted on 9460 2100 UT RSO/LIS, or 17650
0800-1000 UT KAS-CHN in Mandarin/French, and NHK-ASC in Japanese.

The frequency coordination process is seriously flawed. Surely FMO's in
HFCC can get their acts together better than this?

Noel Green comments:
There really does seem to be too much lack of coordination of frequencies
and I thought the HFCC was supposed to prevent this occuring ? I've noted
that changes are already taking place by various broadcasters. Of course,
the situation on 41 49m will be very desperate due to a shortage of
clear frequencies and to DRM noise. But broadcasters should surely have
realised this and planned for it. 15485/15475 are frequencies that Glenn
Hauser often writes about and I can well understand the point he is trying
to make.

Re: [HCDX] Conflicto de frecuencias Eslovaquia-Portugal

2005-11-25 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web
Jose,
I don't see any conflict in Europe to use a 9 MHz channel on late evening
(21 UT).

Because RDP Lisbon is a powerhouse at 52 degrs from Lisbon, at least noted
RDP with S=9 +20 dB in Germany.

SVK's Spanish service on same channel is meant for zones 12 and 13 at
northern South America across the Atlantic,

12 NW S.America
13 NE Brazil

but NOT for Iberian subcontinent.

Re: [HCDX] Voice of Han 9745 kHz

2005-10-07 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web
9745 kHz - at same time slot 0700-0100 UT one or more Chinese mainland
jamming stations are co-channel also.

ILG shows Xian jammer, and VoH Kuan-Yin transmission in 300 deg, main lobe
towards western China Kashgar, UZB, Georgia, Greece, downwards Algeria,
Morocco, WeSahara into southern Atlantic.

At present - 1645 UT - I note VoRUS Armavir in French towards Africa
co-channel.
Also two different Chinese language programmes. A real programme jam.

I´ve heard this station several times around 12 UTC. It does not sound like
a jammer. I´m pretty sure it´s the Voice of Han.

Hi Jouko and lists,

At 1257 7 Oct I could only hear Voice of Russia via Chita (it might be
Russian WS, Sodruzhestvo or RIR - no clear ID at 1300) on 9745. Well, then
some station in Chinese popped out at 1302, but my language skills, that are
about zero, didn't permit me to identify it. And I had to leave my listening
post soon.

And could it merely be a Chinese jammer over the Voice of Han?

This is a tentative logging. Presumably the Voice of Han from Taiwan
comes with very strong signal, S9 +10dB around 12 UTC on 9745 Hz. Logged
today October 7.

[HCDX] VoKorea now on EVEN frequency !

2005-05-06 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web
KOREA D.P.R. Checked all VoKOR channels in past days. I can state, that
the station has OVERCOME now the serious main power problem, usually happens
during Korean winter season. Voltage drops down then, which forces the txs to
operate at slight odd frequencies on reduced power. Power tolerance of the
Swiss made Brown Boverie Cie rxs seem very wide.

All VoKOR transmissions are now on even x.00 frequency, much improved against
main power suffer in winter season.

Newly selected VoKOR frequencies - mostly in-band frequencies - suffer much
by co-channel QRM here in central Europe:

15245 French 1600, by DW Bosnian from Sines-POR, 250 kW powerhouse.
13760 French 1600, by CRI Kashi English, 500 kW powerhouse.
12015 German 1600, by RMI / DTK Juelich, Radio Minivan to Maldives.
(Jeff White - R Miami Internat. brokered).

 9990 English 1600, by R Cairo Abis-EGY, in Albanian,
latter produces 100 Hertz off buzz tone on 9990.10 kHz.

CYPRUS Please note since Monday 28th March 2005 the Cyprus station Cyprus
Zygi on 1323 kHz has been off the air from 0200-0400 UTC.

This is rare as normally the station is off later in summer during the hours
0600-1000 UTC.

I will keep you informed.

No annoucement made on the frequency if there is anything wrong. Normally
there is a notice to say if the station is off for servicing. Tonight I am
off duty. The BBC is my companion as I work through the night in my job.

[HCDX] 4780 RTD Djibouti on air today March 18th.

2005-03-18 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web

DJIBOUTI 4780 Thanks to a tip of Thorsten Hallmann in Austrian news group
A-DX of 1736 UT, RTD Djibouti is back on 4780 kHz TB tonight. Scheduled
0300-2000 [Fris- 2200 only, acc to WRTH 2005, but RTD left the air at 2000
UT today - even now we have Friday tonight ! ]

Signal is m u c h disturbed in southern Germany by an UNKNOWN UTE signal
nearby, so no reliable MP3 recording could be made yet. Monitored around
1800-2000 UT.

Bad reception released on both, Kenwood and Sony rxs, even in SYNC mode.

AOR 7030 set used in SYNC lowerband flank mode at around 4779.6 kHz and set
Pass Band Shift to plus 2.1 kHz, in order to listen in an agreeable sound.

50 kW tropical band tx and a MW tx on 1116 kHz is a gift of US propaganda
organization BBG-IBB to Djibouti in return:

was supposed to have been built by IBB as part of the deal to establish the
1431 Radio Sawa station [US 600 kW super power propaganda station to SDN,
ETH, ERI, audience wb.] - see Chris Greenway's mail below.

Existing tropical band antenna has been refurbished already. Envisaged final
opening date was May 2004, but postphoned to March 2005 lately.

DJIBOUTI I have been listening for reactivated 4780, but nothing heard yet.
I remember hearing it fairly well in Nairobi before it disappeared more than
10 years ago. I can hear Djibouti on 1539, but not on 1116 which (like
4780) was supposed to have been built by IBB as part of the deal to
establish the 1431 Radio Sawa station.

DJIBOUTI R. Djibouti: From some sources I got info that RTD's new 50 kW
SW tx (4780?) might be operational sometime this March.

Subject: Back in Pattaya

Hello Wolfgang,
many thanks for the LAO/CBG/VTN tips. We left Hua Hin for Pattaya again...

(...)
Laos noted the whole day in very fine audio quality on 6130 kHz, seemingly on
full power of 25 kW again.
Registered 2000-1500 UT, exc 0830-0930 UT, Sat 1300 En, Sat 1330-1400 Fr.

Regularly I missed 7145 kHz transmissions due of very few hours on air.
Registered three times a day: 2330-0030, 0500-0630, 1130-1400 UT.

(...)
No trace of Cambodia on 11940v kHz anymore. Maybe gone forever.

(...)
Philippines. Radyo Pilipinas - The Voice of the Philippines observed
yesterday at 0200-0230 UT on 15120, 15270 and 12015 kHz (Tinang A/B), O=4-5.
On 15120 often tx breaks, on 15270 a little co-channel unid-QRM.
Excellent, informative program about the Philippines.

In their letterbox program Hello Friends on past Saturday the station asked
eagerly for listener's letters.

Usual address ... via Visayas Avenue ... has been given. A listener letter
from UK (... King) were quote in full length. In a statement the station
promised Mr. King explicit that the station will keep shortwave distribution
also in future.

[HCDX] RTI updates

2005-01-17 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web
FYI, 73 wb

TAIWAN According to Mr.Sapun Pak of Korean Shortwave Club, Korean staff of
Radio Taiwan International was noticed the sudden closure of Korean sce on
January 13. RTI will cease 3 foreign langs sces including Korean, and 2
Chinese dialects sces on January 31.

Mr.Pak and RTI Korean staff are seeking support from Japanese and other RTI
listeners to continue the Korean sce. One method is to write a message on
guestbook of RTI HP http://www.rti.org.tw/korean

Korean sce of RTI was started on August 15, 1961, once stopped from 1994,
restarted on March 1, 1999. The Korean staff says QSL cards and souvenirs
which have not been mailed yet will continue to be mailed even after the
closure.
(Takahito Akabayashi-JPN, BC-DX Jan 15)

TAIWAN According to Asia broadcasting Institute, Radio Taiwan International
will close Korean, Arabic, Burmese services on January 31. One possible
reason is to raise the funds for their domestic foreign language services.

[HCDX] B04 KRE changes from Jan 1, 2005

2005-01-11 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web

KOREA D.P.R.

Subject: [HCDX] Tsunami monitoring

SRI LANKA. Of the SW transmitter sites here, DW`s Trincomalee is on the
east coast and likely to have been hit by the tsunami; is anyone hearing
normal DW
relays as scheduled here? Fortunately, Colombo is on the west side (Glenn
Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

All scheduled TRI transmissions heard loud and clear in 1800-2100 UT frame,
like 9715, 11695, 11890, and 12025.

Though tx site built up on a former submarine harbour base (WW II British? or
Japanese?). Main power gain from self-sufficient two ship DIESEL engine
generators. 73 wb

[HCDX] Re: [Cumbre DX] Croatia 5031

2004-11-24 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel_web
Jari, that's an instersting observation. In the past we had always noted the
formula 6165 minus 1125 kHz, latter frequency of Deanovec MW site.

Your observation - I guess - shows, that severe damage or main power line /
antenna failure occured last week in Croatia during bad hurricane weather.
See below.

So, the 1134 kHz Zadar tx is replaced by a Deanovec Zagreb MW outlet on same
channel, to overcome the dificulties at the Zadar coast line.

Another mixture should occur symmetrically on 7299 kHz too.
73 wb

From mwdx NL:

CROATIA Croatia 1134 kHz off. Croatian tx on 1134 kHz is off already since
last week. I expected a short failure or maintenance only so I did not
report it. Now when I did it, the tx surely goes on the air very soon, HI
(Sod's Law) ... (Karel Honzik-CZE, mwdx Nov 23)

Damage on Croatian coast. Karel, Maybe antenna damage or main power failure
occured at Zadar site last week? Heavy like tropical storms and much
rainfall reports from that area have been seen on tv widely.

Hrvatski Radio, Croatia, mixing product on 5040
(6165-1125=5040) is regularly heard in Europe.
On 23 Nov around 2130 there was a mix of two
programs on 5031. They were parallels of 6165 and
 1134. Calculating 6165-1134=5031. The mw 1134
is listed as Zadar, while 1125 and 6165 are Deanovac.

So how can this kind of mixing product appear with
transmitters not co-located?. Am I missing something?
The 5031 mix was also heard in the Netherlands by
Mark Veldhuis. 5040 mix was not audible at that time.
