I don't see why not. I have two dual head G450s running, AGP and PCI, that
will run four monitors. I am currently running two and a TV using DVD
MAX which is the best TV out drivers available.

You should post the question to the Matrox Tech support forum

http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/forum/agree.cfm

Matrox will respond pretty quick, during their business hours. You will
have to wait until the holiday is over before you can post the question.
Then you will know for sure.

One caveat to this I should of mentioned with the Parhelia you will not
be able to run 3 monitors at 1600 X 1200 at 32 bit color at 85Hz. I know
because I asked.

http://forum.matrox.com/mga/viewtopic.php?t=14808&highlight=rode

Two but not three... unless you want to streatch the view over three
monitors. A G450 will do one monitor at this resolution.

Your smartest move is to decide what monitors you intend to use, at what
settings, and then ask Matrox. They will tell you if it will work.

No, it isn't just memory... above 16 megs , memory is only practically
important to 3D. It is the GPU speed that matters here.

The Parhelia ain't cheap. I have been watching them for a couple of years
now and they have never come down, which I don't get.. plus they have a
strong following. If you do go with six monitors, or even a couple, you
want to be running all Matrox, ... unless you want to do TV turner or
multimedia stuff. For multi monitors though, Matrox drivers are far and
away in front of everybody else.

RE: [H] Will this work

2005-10-09 Thread Chris Reeves
They have a pretty strong following because Adobe and the RT.X series video
editing cards make easy use of them, and in that environment, there just
isn't anything else ;(

Matrox Axio & RT.X cards still sell like crazy because they work so damn
well, actually, for what they cost.

And as long as Matrox can bundle the two together and stay profitable, they
don't have a huge demand to do anything else.

[H] SOLVED MY PROBLEMO was HELP ON Speed

2005-10-09 Thread rls
Well just about had run out of ideas when I remembered an 'old' solution of
mine.

Now mind you, I had re-set the bios to its default settings at least twice
prior to this ---

I popped out the CMOS BATTERY (could not spot the clear cmos jumpers at the
time).

Anyway THAT did the trick. I had upgraded the bios about a week ago and I
finally remember an Asus board I had, that I had to clear the CMOS after a
certain point as simply restoring to the default bios settings wouldn't do
it. Don't know if there are lingering artifacts or what but it's great to
have my old machine back, lol. 10 minutes to encode a DVD rather than 4
hours.

LEARNED SOMETHING ELSE IN THE PROCESS
I had been having problems with a Seagate drive on the IDE side. Came across
an item in one of Seagate's pages that sometimes switch a hard drive to the
PRIMARY channel would clear things up. I had the drive on the Secondary
Channel to make the cables lay nicer but I figured that I had nothing to
loose.

Lo and behold - the drive now runs UDMA 5 instead of 2.

Oh well, now to try and install Virtual PC

Thanks all

[H] Dedicated 35mm Film/Slide Scanner

2005-10-09 Thread Jin-Wei Tioh

Hello all,

I've been poking around with Google for the past week and I have to
admit that I'm still a little confused as to which is a current, good
dedicated 35mm film/slide scanner in the $200 or so price range.

I've read that the Acer ScanWit 2720S was surprisingly good (and I
guess that carries over to the Benq ScanWit 2750i), but was wondering
if the list had other recommendations? I don't think the Kodak Minolta
Scan IV is an option as it does not have ICE.

Looking forward to your replies, as always :D

Looks like MS wants you to fill out a support request to get it, and that
support request requires a Product ID, and they won't provide free support

Registers, where you keep the CACHE! Sorry, couldn't resist. =)

No surprise needing CCMOS as there are things stored in areas that may
end up being remapped to other uses with newer firmware and clearing is
STOP when upgrading for that reason.
