The only time you would need to do that is if you went with a 64bit 
version of Windows Xp 
 or 2k3

No, and in fact you don't need to format after most upgrades
anymore...just do a "repair" install.  I did it a couple of weeks ago
after installing a new mobo and PSU and have been running smoothly ever
since.

Doing the seem edits on the phone was snap.. But getting the beast to "talk"
with Motorola Mobile Phone Tools was horrible.

Ultimately I think its hardware, to the extent that I thought all dongles were
created equal. Some are probably better supported than others. It was hell
trying to get Windows to "see" it and talk to the phone.
The manufacturers device drivers just don't work well.. Maybe a new dongle is in
my future!!

Interesting...I had no problem with Windows and my E815. All I did was DUN 
over BT, but that worked like a champ...

brother asked me to get him a Bluetooth headet recently..I got him an Epox
HS-01 headset and a Nimbus DH-BT-TB6 bluetooth dongle.





 





Now,
after many hours of trying to get this working we are at a point where the
Bluetooth drivers are installed, they reconise the headet, the security code is
authorised and everything *SHOULD* be working but nothing appears in the mixer
controls or in the Device pages of "Audio Devices" other then his
soundcard
