You mean ripping them off, right?

Semantics. OSX is based on BSD. Does that mean Apple "ripped them off"?

I don't think so, since they did add OSX on top. That's value added! :)

Re: [H] DST Patch?

2007-03-06 Thread DHSinclair
Yes, much of the patch might do time zones overseas, but it also provides
the new pointers (math values) for our USA systems that do live in DST
areas to re-compute when DST starts and stops. I suppose since many things
in computer-land depend on the correct time at each PC, getting DST
switched over properly is important still. Yes, I do agree, this DST
sillyness should maybe go away. I went to school and came home in the
dark. I guess we need to convince our local Board of Ed that DST is really
lame. Then, it is tough to have HS Football practice after school in the
dark! LOL!

Good luck.

I'm not missing much yet in IE.

do need the experience now that other family members are now on XP. Hmm.

This whole thing is a crock...
(It has its uses though...)

Daylight is a finite resource... Changing the clock doesn't "save" anything,
it just moves it...
I guess calling it "Daylight MOVING Time" has no sex appeal... ;-)

Re: [H] DST Patch?

2007-03-06 Thread DHSinclair

Rick,
I completely agree with you. Actually, if it were called "Daylight
Moving/Shifting Time" I might not feel so bad about it. I just find it to
be a giant PITA.
It is interesting to note that DST seems to be more important, and
ingrained, in those highly populated areas at higher latitudes. Hmm. Then,
I have to laugh here with many of the dairy farmers in my area that think
DST is bunk because, as they say, "Ain't seen no cow that reads a clock
yet!" I am certain that my grass does not care what "time" it is either! LOL!

Duncan

Never really noticed this b4 but if I have Eudora open IE and FF both are dog
slow.

Only bugs me if I link out from Eudora.
I'm not sure if this is new bug, Eudora's bug or IE/FF bug
