[ha-Safram]: Uri Zvi Greenberg
hello safranim, Does anyone know the answer to this? I am trying to help a patron here but am in the dark myself. Many thanks Noa Wahrman I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. - Mark Twain (1835-1910) Ms. Noa Wahrman Jewish Studies Collection Manager Wells Library E350 Indiana University Bloomington 1320 E. 10th Street Bloomington IN 47405 Tel.: (812) 855-9204 Fax: (812) 855-7933 e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: Horrocks, Jamie Sent: Friday, January 12, 2007 4:11 PM To: Wahrman, Noa Subject: Uri Zvi Greenberg Ms. Wahrman, I am trying to track down an English translation of one of Uri Zvi Greenberg/Grinberg's Yiddish poems, Uri Zvi farn Tzeylem (Uri Zvi in Front of the Cross), originally printed in 1922 in a magazine released in Warsaw and Berlin (1923) called Albatros. I have looked through every volume of Yiddish poetry in translation in the library here, and I've exhausted all of the articles on Greenberg I have found in JSTOR, Academic Search Premier, and other general periodical databases. I've also combed through WorldCat and the Library of Congress catalogs, but to no avail. Greenberg does have a volume of colleced verse, but it, too, is written in Yiddish (the one English edition of this book that seems to exist is owned by only one library, listed as TRESOAR in WorldCat, and I haven't had any luck trying to get it through ILL). I know it's a long shot, but do you perhaps know of some other databases that I could search for translations of the poem that might have been published in articles or books? I'd also be perfectly happy with a copy of the German translation of the poem from the Berlin 1923 Albatros, but I can't find a library that owns this, either. Any suggestions you might have would be very much appreciated.
