[ha-Safran]: Summer Library Seminars in Oxford, Prague and Ljubljana

2007-02-20 Thread Miriam Intrator
Please excuse cross-postings. If you are interested please do not
reply to me but go to the website linked below. Thank you.

Summer Seminars Available in Oxford, Prague and Ljubljana

If you would like to learn first-hand about libraries and library
services in a different culture and gain a global perspective on
issues facing libraries around the world, you will want to consider
enrolling in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School
of Information and Library Science's international summer seminars.
Registration is now open to anyone interested in being part of the
summer seminars in Ljubljana, Republic of Slovenia; Prague, Czech
Republic; or Oxford, England.

The seminars can either be taken for academic credit or on a
non-credit basis and are enjoyed by both professional librarians and
library science students. More information about all three seminars
including dates and tentative schedules is available on the web at
http://sils.unc.edu/programs/international/index.html.

If you are interested in secular historical fiction, I can recommend these:
Morning Girl by Michael Dorris. Hyperion (c1999).
Someday by Jackie French Koller (Scholastic, c2002).
The Year of Miss Agnes by Kirkpatrick Hill (Simon Schuster, c2000).
The Great Turkey Walk by Kathleen Karr (Farrar, c1998)
Nory Ryan's Song (Yearling, c2002), Maggie's Door (Wendy Lamb Books,
c2003), and
Water Street (Wendy Lamb Books, c2006) by Patricia Reilly Giff
The History Mysteries (series), Pleasant Company

[ha-Safran]: e films and film strips from 40s 50s

2007-02-20 Thread Dan Wyman Books
We are posting this on behalf of Prof. Art Simon; any of you who have
copies of these may contact us or Dr. Simon directly at the address below.

Thanks,

Dan

I have begun work on a book about film culture and the fight against
domestic anti-Semitism after World War Two up to 1960. As you may
know, the American Jewish Committee and the ADL produced a number of
pro-tolerance educational films during this period with such titles
as Toward Full Integration, A Trumpet for the Combo, Prejudice
(1949), The High Wall (1952), and Let Us Break Bread Together
(1954).Also, there are two ADL film strips I want: None So Blind and
About People, both from 1948..Books or pamphlets dealing with the
issue would also be of interest for me.

Thanks for your help with this.
