RE: [ha-Safran]: DVDs vs. Blue ray discs
Peggy, There is a lot of skepticism regarding Blu-Ray's succession to DVD since most people are currently satisfied with the picture that they get with their DVDs. This may change as more and more people purchase HD televisions with the 1080p resolution that is required to actually see the crisp picture of a Blu-Ray. Given that not many people own Blu-Ray players (only 10.7 million have been sold in the US), not many of your users will be able to play the Blu-Ray discs that you buy. With DVDs, even those who own Blu-Ray players can view your discs since the players are backwards compatible. My advice: stick with DVD for now. RE: [ha-Safran]: Aleph-bet book
Talya, Could you be thinking of the Aleph-Bet Story Book by Deborah Pessin, published by JPS. The stories are not about how each letter got its name, but there's a story for each letter that relates to its name. The first one is about creation. As the book progresses through the aleph-bet, the stories go through the Tanakh and later Midrash. Even if it's not the book you're looking for, you'll like it.
