[ha-Safran]: Eva Wiseman -- KANADA
Liz, I am familiar with this book which I bought for our high school library last year. It is the winner of the Manitoba Young Readers" Choice Award and deals with a fourteen year old Hungarian girl during World War II. Another book by her which we own is called My Canary Yellow Star written in 2001 also about a teenager in Budapest when Raoul Wallenberg was the diplomat there. System's online publishing technology - NetIS, in cooperation with The Hebrew Bibliography of E.P.I publishing. During the last two years, both, the online version and the CD have been broadened with thousands of new bibliographic records, two new languages have been included and many texts corrected. Today, The Bibliography of the Hebrew Book database totals up to 141,000 book records and more than 15,470 authors' biographies, including: · About 2,500 new records (books). · About 860 new biographies. · One of the important components of this outstanding database is the easy access to about 95,000 names of people which either, contributed to the writing of a book or were related to the publishing process. Until today, some of these people were hard to locate, since names could appear in different forms and nuances, hence complicating the search. In the new version, we made special efforts on improving those records and tens of thousands of names from the Jewish history, from different centuries all over the world are presented with their literary and historical context. · Added languages: Lithuanian (LET) and Juhuri (TAT) Language of the Mountain Jews. · Thousands of adjustments and text corrections. [ha-Safran]: Need assistance
Dear Chevra: I am a lay volunteer archivist/librarian for our 102 year old Shul, Congregation Tifereth Israel. We located at the end of Long Island, known as the North Fork. I retired out here after 25 years with the Yeshivah of Flatbush H.S. in Brooklyn, Yeah! Their wonderful Librarian, Rachail Kurtz is responsible for what I doing at this stage of my life. She is a gem! The cost of archival material etc., is eroding my tiny budget. Any ideas? I have also written to institutions etc. to see if we are eligible for grants. So far, no luck. (I am hopeful, however). Thank you for your input.
