Re: [ha-Safran]: Websites with Weine numbers?

I don't know a positive answer to your questions. But I think that
Weine is not enough like Dewey that you can simply use Dewey numbers.
There are catalogs listed online available through the AJL website,
jewishlibraries.org, and if you want to search the ones that use
Weine for your books, you may get lucky. (Alas, that's kinda what I do.)

Using the Dewey number won't work because virtually every non-fiction
book in your library will have the Dewey number for Judaism - 296...
You can buy a copy of the Weine list for a few dollars from the
AJL.(Click on publications at the website
www.jewishlibraries.org).
Our Wise Temple Library uses Weine and we've actually had to
expand it a bit to accommodate our collection of 20,000. You could
always use our catalog for numbers if you like. We're at
www.wisetemple.org Click on Libraries.

[ha-Safran]: Websites with Weine numbers?

Subject: [ha-Safran]: Websites with Weine numbers?

I am not a librarian, but I’ve been charged with
entering books that come into our library with
call numbers and shelving them. Is there such a
thing as a website where I can find call numbers
already assigned to published books? We use the
Weine system, but I’m not sure how that differs
from the traditional Dewey numbers except to make
them more specifically targeted for Jewish
holdings… would finding a Dewey listing be adequate for my purposes?
