[ha-Safran] Sydney Taylor Awards event

In the evaluation form Jim mentioned a special activity for the 50th 
anniversary for Sydney Taylor. What a great idea. It would be a wonderful 
chance to do a spectacular program on Sunday with the public.  Sydney Taylor is 
so well known we could highlight her books and the prize winning books.  
Involve the public libraries, get press coverage, maybe even a spot on TV 
(C-Span???).  I think Sunday is the perfect day-people are already in for 
Monday, people are off, families could come.Great chance to do outreach. 
Not sure how many people would be able to stay after the conference.  Just a 
thought.

Jim,
I think the survey is too narrative and less evaluative. I suggest that you 
“translate” it to an electronic survey form, and add room for evaluating the 
food, the need to travel from the hotel to the venue, the different structure 
of the conference, amongst others. This will give you and the committee a more 
detailed response that will be tabulated and perhaps used when planning the 
next conference. I believe that a few members of the most excellent conference 
committee can help you with that.

[ha-Safran] Sarah Schenier

Hi all,


I have a patron who is doing research about Sarah Schenirer (the founder of the 
Bais Yaakov movement) and is looking for in general, anything related to Sarah 
Schenirer and the Bais Yaakov movement, would be of interest.

More specifically: She would love to get a copy of the Gizamelte Schriften 
(Sarah Schenirer), Lodz version (ie, not the version put out by the BY Teachers 
Seminary in the US) as well as copies of any of the Bais Yaakov Journals (Bajs 
Jakow or Beys Yankev). If anyone has access to them or to microforms and can 
email scans of them, that would be very helpful.
