Re: [ha-Safran] Kol Hakavod to AJL new editor for the AJL News and Reviews Nov./Dec. issue

2019-11-05 Thread Jacqueline Benefraim via Hasafran
I too wish to add my delight with the current issue of AJL's *News and
Reviews.*

You can spread the word to your colleagues who are not yet AJL members that
if they manage Judaica collections, or just curate a small shelf of Jewish
themed books in a public library, they need to have access to the marvelous
resource.

[ha-Safran] Trip to Israel

2019-11-05 Thread Daniel Stuhlman via Hasafran
Hello safranim in Israel,

I am planning to visit Israel Dec 30 - Jan 12. I would be interested to
visit with librarians and discuss common concerns. Since the upcoming AJL
conference is in Chicago in June 2020 and I am one the committee, I would
be happy to share any ideas and answer any questions about Chicago.

While in Israel I would love to give some lectures or talks about
librarianship. My areas of interest are cataloging and marketing. I hope
to give a lecture on the cataloging of unusual materials.

Send me private messages.

Todah,

Donnie

[ha-Safran] Kol Hakavod to AJL new editor for the AJL News and Reviews Nov./Dec. issue

2019-11-05 Thread Amalia Warshenbrot via Hasafran
Kol Hakavod to AJL new editor Sally Stieglitz for the AJL News and Reviews
Nov./Dec. issue. In addition to the Reviews Sally interviewed Lia Ronnen,
editor and publisher of the Israeli cookbooks (I think that Shuk is her
recent). You can read A tribute to Mordicai Gerstein by Etta Gold with a link
to the New York Times Tribute and, especially the front page article by Heidi
Rabinowitz on the Face-Book group JEWISH KIDLIT MAVINS. Don’t miss Ellen
Share’s explanation on Pintrest Social Media Website. I believe that Ellen’s
article was developed after her presentation on it at the last conference.
If you are new to AJL go to the website, click Publications (on the top) and go
to the down arrow Digital publications. It goes without saying that you will
need to log-on first with your password.
I’m writing before finishing reading it because I’m exited!

[ha-Safran] David Assaf

2019-11-05 Thread Ellen Rifkin via Hasafran
I live in Oregon and will be unable to attend David Assaf's lecture
November 25, but I WOULD LOVE to learn whatever he will be presenting. (I
assume the children's letters themselves are not available in any
accessible form-- either in translation or in Yiddish.?)I am currently
doing research on the Tsysho school system as well as the Tarbot schools,
and trying to write about children's experience(s) in various settings from
the WWI period onward.

Any way I can be in touch with Professor Assaf??

Thank you so much.
