 Also, The Hungry Clothes  compiled by Schram has some good stories.
An old classic but still valuable is Pessin's The Aleph-Bet Story Book.An 
excellent reference book for stories- especially thematic- is the Jewish Story 
Finder by Elswit

I am looking for Jewish Short Stories for grades 1 - 3.  My Director of
Education at my Reform Religious School in Southern California hired a new
teacher.  She wants to read short stories to her students at the beginning
and end of her classes.  I have about 800 Jewish Children's books in my
