Re: [Heb-NACO] questions on chronograms in Hebrew script
As a systems person, Having consistent data in the 264 $c is very important. Chronograms in the 264 are messy. Unpaired non-roman 500's are not displayed (at least in Sierra) they can be paired to a blank 500 to get the system to display them to the public. I get 535 = 1774 or 1775. If your transliterating, there should not be a period after the A of Al. Re: [Heb-NACO] questions on chronograms in Hebrew script
Hi Heidi, I’m by no means a rare book cataloger but I have taken two Rare Book School classes on cataloging. I checked the Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Books) 4D2.2 for some guidance. It wasn’t real helpful. I personally wouldn’t add a parallel Romanized field for the 500. It’ll be interesting to hear what our rare book colleagues say.
