Re: [Heb-NACO] questions on chronograms in Hebrew script

2020-08-27 Thread Miriam Gloger via Heb-naco
As a systems person,
Having consistent data in the 264 $c is very important. Chronograms in the
264 are messy.

Unpaired non-roman 500's are not displayed (at least in Sierra) they can be
paired to a blank 500 to get the system to display them to the public.

Re: [Heb-NACO] questions on chronograms in Hebrew script

2020-08-26 Thread Heidi G Lerner via Heb-naco
It depends on which rules you follow. There are differences betwen DCRM, RDA
and A2

In DCRMB chronograms are optional but do can go in a note.

RDA LC-PCC PS

LC-PCC PS for
2.8.6.4[http://access.rdatoolkit.org/images/rdalink.png]<http://access.rdatoolkit.org/document.php?id=rdachp2&target=rda2-6858#rda2-6858>
ALTERNATIVE
LC practice/PCC practice for Alternative: Record a supplied date in numerals
instead of giving the chronogram

Hi Heidi,

I’m by no means a rare book cataloger but I have taken two Rare Book School
classes on cataloging. I checked the Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials
(Books) 4D2.2 for some guidance. It wasn’t real helpful. I personally
wouldn’t add a parallel Romanized field for the 500. It’ll be interesting to
hear what our rare book colleagues say.
