Re: [Histonet] Antibody diluent

Scott:I’m pretty certain that you wouldn’t need to completely re-validate after
changing diluents, but you may have to change the dilution factor slightly.
It’s my understanding that a change like this only requires staining a few
known positive samples, verifying that the results you obtain are very similar
if not identical to previous results.  While taking someone else’s suggestion
to download that paper on diluents from Biocare’s site, I came across a paper
on the subject of validation/verification that I found interesting.Jeanine

What is everyone's take on what needs to be done from a verification/validation
standpoint if you switch diluents for your concentrated antibodies?  The CAP
summary of recommendations on the validation IHC antibodies doesn't
specifically mention the changing of diluent as one of the variables.

If I change the diluent on my ER and Her2 concentrates, do I need to do a
complete re-validation or just a quick verification using a few positive and
negative cases?  I'm not really liking the idea of a complete re-validation!

Thanks for any info!

All:Our lab uses a ton of concentrated antibodies and we’ve found that there’s
really no such thing as a universal diluent like the ones offered by Leica and
Agilent.  We get ours from Biocare, they offer five different diluents with
different pHs and chemical makeups and we use three of these. I checked with my
Biocare rep and iit seems that the one that’s most similar to Leicas is called
Monet Blue.  I suggest you contact your Bocare rep and see if they can send you
a sample of one or more them. Good  luck,Jeanine

Like other folks in the histo community, I’ve recently experienced the
inability to buy diluent from Leica.  Now wondering what others are doing to
handle this problem.  TIA!

[Histonet] QIHC Exam Preparers

2020-09-24 Thread Jeanine Ronkowski via Histonet
Hi Histo-peeps:I’m just wondering if someone can shed some light on who
prepares the QIHC exam.  Everyone I’ve talked to about the test says that all
of the questions are tricky and cover a lot older topics rather than more
relavent information.  So how can we get some folks who understand today’s IHC
world involved in this process?  TIA for your input

Re: [Histonet] Questions on how to operate a ThermoFisher Lab Vision autostainer 3602D

2019-10-25 Thread Jeanine Ronkowski via Histonet
Katherine:Our lab did the same thing a few years ago and I received operating
instructions for this system from a sales rep with Biocare that I know.  I'll
send this document to you offline.  I can also put you in touch with the guy
from Biocare.  As Colleen said, Biocare doesn't sell or support this instrumemt
any more, but you can still get reagents from them.  I know of only three
companies that can provide service and PMs.  Let me know if you need that info
too.Good Luck,Jeanine

Hello Histonetters,

My company has acquired a refurbished ThermoFisher Lab Vision autostainer 3602D
and I have questions on how to operate.  It is no longer supported by
ThermoFisher so I am unable to get tech support through them.  Is there anyone
who is familiar and available/willing to answer a few questions?

Thank you in advance.

Kate

[Histonet] Histonet - IHC Manual staining

2019-01-18 Thread Jeanine Ronkowski via Histonet
Hi Dave:Our lab has used reagents from Biocare Medical for a very long time.
They’re packaged in 6ml and 25 ml vials and ideal for hand staining. And their
technical support is great tooJeanine

Hello Histoneters -

Does anyone still do manual IHC's? If so, which IHC staining kits would you
recommend? Thanks.

Yours,
Dave

[Histonet] IHC System from StatLab

2018-06-14 Thread Jeanine Ronkowski via Histonet
I’m pleased to report that I was finally contacted by a representative from
StatLab that provided me with the information I was seeking.  I realize that
their system may not be fully released, but I didn’t think it would be that
difficult for them to provide information.  Turns out that this instrument is
very similar to another manufacturer’s instrument that’s been on the market for
a while.J

Re: [Histonet] IHC System from StatLab

2018-06-12 Thread Jeanine Ronkowski via Histonet
All:For those of you who saw my posting last week and we’re wondering about the
outcome, I’m sorry to say that I’ve received very little useful feedback.  Two
individuals from StatLab sent me separate, cryptic messages indicating that
they would be be happy to either meet with me or provide a demo of this unnamed
instrument, but neither have provided me with a brochure or any other
documentation, as I requested in my response.
I’ve never done this before, so I would like to ask this group – Is this
behavior normal?  I’m gathering information on available instruments, and since
I assume these folks would like to sell their new system, so why is it that no
one will provide me with some basic information, like slide capacity,
capabilities, reagent costs, etc?
Any and all feedback is appreciated.
Jeanine
