Re: [Histonet] Stainer comparisons

2022-08-17 Thread John Frazier via Histonet
Are used to work for Roche. The HE600 is an option that I would not choose. The
instrument has too many moving parts and the rate of service is much higher
than any of the dip and dunk strainers on the market. The reagents are
proprietary, so you are forced to use Roche staining reagents. The Dako H
strainer is bad too.

2021-10-05 Thread John Frazier via Histonet
If you are looking to prioritize certain tissues slides to the pathologist,
I think separate small biopsy runs are a great idea. You can process them
with a much shorter run cycle.(90-120 min). You can actually do several
runs per day. This is a good way of decreasing your TAT for all blocks and
putting the signout TAT back in the pathologist's hands. If you are
interested, I can suggest a run schedule.

Have you considered any Digital Imaging platforms such as Roche's DP200 or
Lieca's Aperio? Both of these systems provide superior imaging and you may
even be able to build your own algorithms for immunofluourescent
multiplexing. I am not a vendor but have seen both of these systems and
evaluated them. The Roche DP 200 can scan the and give you X,Y,and Z
imaging. You can literally focus up and down on the image to see layers.
Just a thought.

[Histonet] Floaters

2020-12-07 Thread John Frazier via Histonet
Here is a reference link to floaters. My experience with tissue floaters
is that most come from staining baths. However, some manufacturers of
stainers claim there is significance with these floaters. My experience is
that Pathologists read through the floaters and for the most part they
don't mind.
My concern for floaters that pose a real threat to an accurate diagnosis
come from the block. Created either at grossing with contaminated grossing
tools or embedding.
