Re: [Histonet] Coverslip Instruments
We use the Tissue Tek Glas with our Ventana labeled slides with no problem. The key is to insure the label does not hang off the edge in the slightest. However, it does not put them in a tray, however, that function only takes about 10 seconds. Terri L. [Histonet] Coverslip
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone else has seen this occur in their labs and how to resolve this matter. It has to do with the coverslip using the resin tape. However more recently, I have been noticing that there is a drying artifact that happens right as the xylene drys. It looks almost like when water freezes and gives that frosted look. Re: [Histonet] Coverslip
We have found this to be a culmination of a couple of things: Bad lot of tape from vendor Drying slides before cover slipping Too much xylene drip during coverslip (dilutes the glue stuff on the tape allowing for weak adhesive) We use Sakura cover slipping tape for more consistent quality and adjust xylene drip accordingly and make sure slides do not sit out very long at all as xylene from the stainer will evaporate (drying slides) rather quickly. Hope this helps. Michael Ann Jones, HT (ASCP) Histology Manager Metropath 7444 W. Re: [Histonet] Coverslip
Usually these odd results have 2 origins that you should look into: 1- using a different (cheaper and harder) plastic than the originally recommended; and 2- a regulation problem in the amount of xylene dropped into the film René J. [Histonet] Coverslip removal question
Hi Histonetters When I soak my slides in xylene to remove the coverslip, do I then need to rehydrate them by washing them in 100% etoh,95% etoh,70% etoh, and then H20. And then drying and re applying permount? Or can I go straight from xylene to drying to re-coversliping with permount? Re: [Histonet] Coverslip removal question
No, once you have removed the coverslip, just wash the section thoroughly in xylene to remove any thick remnant of the old permount, and reapply permount and cover. [Histonet] coverslip issues
Hi all, I'm looking for some help in choosing a new vendor for coverslips for the Thermo Consul coverslipper. We have been buying coverslips from Thermo since we bought the instrument, and the last shipment (of 10 cases) is from a new supplier and is not working in the instrument. The coverslip cannot be detected and the mountant is not dispensing. I spoke with the technician (Diane is wonderful) and she walked me through a diagnostic on the Consul and the instrument is not the problem. Does anyone out there have a suggestion as to a coverslip that they know works in the Consul? I have already tried the Vista from VWR (which is okay, but not perfect) and am eagerly awaiting requested samples. Thanks for your help. Denise Crowley Facility Manager Histology David H.
