RE: [OT][hlds] New Video Card For HL2?

2004-08-08 Thread David Fencik
I have a coolmax silent 480W power supply ($60, also from newegg), and
it powers my 3 hard drives, 4 cooling fans, 2 dvd burners, athlon64
3200+, 1GB ddr 4000 and geforce 6800 wonderfully.

I don't know of any pc power supply that costs "several hundred $$".

On a side note, the 6800 ultra takes an additional slot next to your agp
slot, due to its massive heatsink. If you're using a micro-atx case,
this could be problematic.

It's my undersanding that the 6800 requires a more robust power supply,
in
the order of at least 500W but 600W is recommended. The X800 has no
enhanced
power supply requirements. That should also be considered when
upgrading.
This could easily add several hundred $$ to the total upgrade prce.

I just got a new computer from Newegg. Newegg has some of the cheapest
prices and their shipping is ultra fast, and a lot of their policies are
really great.

I got an evga geforce 6800 from newegg.com. They have this cool program
that lets you upgrade within 90 days if you outgrow it that quickly,
which I did. A 6800 gt is now on it's way.

Yeah, you deserve to be flamed for asking a question like that here!

An nVidia 6800 is the only way to go. Bite the bullet and fork out $500
for
the Ultra.

Anyone know where these are currently being sold?

I like zipzoomfly.com better, bigger variety, and way lower prices, thats
just my opinion. I got all the pieces for a pc there (except for the case,
xoxide.com) i build a 3.2 P4 w/ HT, 40 GB HDD, and a gig of ram for about
700.

[hlds] CS-Server Invalid STEAM UserID Ticket

2004-08-08 Thread Alex Acetozi
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Hi all I am trying to create a Dedicated CS server. I started the server, made the
updates using the command prompt cause I am running on a Windows machine and the
server looks fine i can even find it from game spy or The Eye. The thing is everytime
someone try to join the server they get an dialog box asking to the players to enter
their steam account information ( email and password) after they type it comes this
error saying Your Steam Ticket has expired, please re-enter your password to continue.
They type it correctly but it wont work. The server logs shows something:
Dropped Player from server Reason: Invalid STEAM UserID Ticket

What do i have to do to fix it ? Does the server need to have it s own serial number ?
Please I am starting now with CS servers so please be patient :)

Thanks a lot,
Alex

If you're limited to AGP, and you want more performance than the ATI 9800 Pro, an

Re: [OT][hlds] New Video Card For HL2?

2004-08-08 Thread Orion
HL2 is a D3D based game and ATI does D3D better. Doom3 is an OpenGL game,
whcih Nvidia does better.

So the querstion is which game and its mods will you play more? If its HL2
then get an ATI card.
