[hlds] sv_downloadurl

2005-05-02 Thread Alexander Kobbevik
I found this tutorial for the sv_downloadurl setting.
I was just wondering if I can get it to download any file, not only maps?

To do this, you copy the files needed for de_generic to your webspace,
placing them in a folder called my_cstrike in your webspace top-level
directory
Does it have to be my_cstrike, or what ever you choose as long as you keep
the structure from the root of the web area?

Why I ask is because I host fy_iceworld which needs de_vegas.wad to run.
The map gets downloaded but then cs crash with en error message containing
this wad file.

Any help would be appreciated.

sv_downloadurl will download maps, wad files, sprites, models, sounds, and
tga files. For this to happen you need to create a mapname.res file for
each map that contains all the external files required by the map. Resgen at
www.unitedadmins.com will automatically generate .res files for you.

Wait -- are you talking SRCDS or HLDS? If SRCDS, has ResGen been updated to
accomodate the new .RES format for SCRDS?

HLDS and Counter strike 1.6.
I will try this Resgen and see if that works :)

I guess I was hoping it would be easier after looking at this tutorial.

It is easy. Just make a text file and put this in it:
de_vegas.wad
and save the file as fy_iceworld.res and put it in the maps folder on
your game server. Now put the de_vegas.wad file on your web server. Done.

2005-05-02 Thread Graham M.
You CAN use a little program called resmaker, google it! Think its at
UnitedAdmins. Basically u drag the .bsp onto the resmaker.exe icon and it
spits out a res file containing all used external files.

 Hey guys,

I was wondering if there was a way to log banned connections?
 eg
 STEAM_0:0:1234 is banned
 STEAM_0:0:1234 tries to connect
it refuses the connection of STEAM_0:0:1234 and logs it

atm it will just show they are connecting:
 L 05/01/2005 - 10:57:52: Player5STEAM_ID_PENDING connected,
 address x.x.x.x:
but there's no message, logged, that they were dropped... can anyone help
 me?
sv_logbans doesn't seem to do anything, either does sv_logblocks

Any help would be handy, ta

[hlds] Execution of banned config files

2005-05-02 Thread Andrew Armstrong
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Im wondering if there has been a change in the source/halflife engine recently
that prevents the banned.cfg files being executed on map change etc as usual?

This may be a problem at our end, however I would like to rule out the
possibility of it being a Valve change causing the problem.

Basically, our banned.cfg files have new entries in them, but they are not
added to the servers banlist unless its done via 'exec banned.cfg' - Usually it
appeared the server checked these files on map change to reload the bans from
the file.

Valve/anyone able to comment?

Cheers
