It's the Steam Server browser that is borked. Master list appears to be OK.
Kali shows servers I expect to see, Steam is missing a bunch. On one of my
machines I don't get any servers at all.

RE: [hlds] Serverlist ok?

2005-05-14 Thread Scorpion_Sting
A lot of servers are missing. http://steampowered.com/status/status.html

I noticed on my servers this is how it worked out after I updated all of
them.

HL2DM - Missing
HL2CTF - Missing
With this message for the master servers:
Adding master server 207.173.177.11:27011
Adding master server 207.173.177.12:27011

CS:S - There
With this message for the master servers:
Adding master server 69.28.151.178:27011
Adding master server 207.173.177.12:27011

I reverted back before the last update for my CTF and DM servers, now they
show up fine and give the same master servers as the CS:S server. The CS:S
server is fully updated and seems just fine, just getting the No/Bad
Challenges, but those are just from old scanners trying to query the
machine.

My HLDS servers were not affected, only my srcds ones. My servers run on
Windows.

Subject: re: [hlds] problems after last update: Bot issue work around

I found a work around for the Bot issues caused by last nights patch.
In the Mani-Admin tool forum, Ace Rimmer suggested using Matties Event
Scripts to delay the start of your bot.cfg file by 5 seconds or so after
the map start:
http://www.mani-admin-plugin.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7985&postdays=0&;
postorder=asc&&start=15
I tried it, restarted the server and it works great. I don't get the
server/map full issue when it changes to the next map. My bots and
players can enter the map and play away. After loading Mattie Event
script onto the server, I added the following line to the bottom of my
server.cfg: es_delayed 5 exec bot.cfg. I then restarted the server and
forced a map change. Works now, not sure why, but it works. Thanks to
Ace Rimmer for finding a solution.
You can get the event scripts .dll here:

I am running Mani Add on...SRCDS Server, to run Bots, Remove all bots from
Server.cfg. In the ED.cfg add all your bot commands.
Start Server as normal on first map and then execute the ED.cfg and your
bots are back. I am currently running 14 bots on a 20 seat server and they
are working on all maps with the cycle working properly.

Lucky you ;) (only joking)
I did get both updates and removed all bot cvars. Funny how one bot
joins the game upon first player entering but that is all. The server
is not saying its full anymore... now it just sits empty. LOL

2005-05-14 Thread Christopher Choo
Hi,
I run into those problems too. Worse, my servers crash just a couple of
minutes after those lines show up. What I've had to do is to revert to the
previous version of engine.dll in /bin and the server becomes somewhat
stabler. There seems to be a 1-byte difference in filesize between this new
version and the previous one.

Bad challenge from 84.150.12.103:61058.
any clue what this is?? Both my Source Game servers
are doing this in the console.

I've seen a theory elsewhere that this is HLSW (and other) clients that
aren't capable of handling the updated HL query protocol...
Just a thought

Re: [hlds] RE: problems after last update: server works for one map only

2005-05-14 Thread Roc
Lucky you ;) (only joking)
I did get both updates and removed all bot cvars. Funny how one bot
joins the game upon first player entering but that is all. The server
is not saying its full anymore... now it just sits empty. LOL

Took a while to get them all done one at a time but they finally got
done.
No complaints from users (players) at this time.
Now I did wait until the morning after before starting the updates.
I.e.; wait and see if a secondary point release is necessary before
committing to the update.

re: [hlds] problems after last update: Bot issue work around

2005-05-14 Thread admin
I found a work around for the Bot issues caused by last nights patch.
In the Mani-Admin tool forum, Ace Rimmer suggested using Matties Event
Scripts to delay the start of your bot.cfg file by 5 seconds or so after
the map start:

http://www.mani-admin-plugin.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7985&postdays=0&;
postorder=asc&&start=15

It seems that after the initial map change the server no longer
accepts
new players, in fact it gives "server full" messages when i try to add
bots and players can only connect as spectators.
first map after startup is fine. it's after the map changes that the

The cl_rate command is now list as "unknown" even though if you do type in
"cl_rate" it still appears in the autocomplete menu of commands.
Got clients now bugging me about this, so I'm bugging the list.
Was this an accident or deliberate on Valves part?
 What sets the cl_rate now?

Server FAQ was [hlds] bz2 compression info

2005-05-14 Thread Kevin Ottalini
That FAQ (108) is for both HLDS and SRCDS servers.
13 is my recommended minimum for HLDS servers, I note 20 minium for SRCDS
servers
... I intended 13 for min and max on HLDS for minimal useage.
How do I get the most from my Dedicated Server?
http://steampowered.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=108
Unfortunately I can't update those FAQs anymore or I would make it a little
clearer.
