I have an opportunity to install Windows server 2003 on the box running my

difference). How many here have used 2003, and have you had any issues? The
reason I want to use WinServer2003 is that I have a license to use it
through school, and it frees up my XP copies to run on other computers that
are currently running Win2000.

IOW, is there any reason not to us WinServer2003 on my HL server box?

// Limitations:
//Maximum of 40 menus.
//Maximum of 100 buttons per menu.

Make sure you are closing the bracket and quote pairs properly. If you
miss one, it'll throw everything else off.

Here's a fair tutorial:

http://www.counter-script.net/index.php?id=21

Here's an example of an older one that I keep online for reference:

Speaking of which, iirc, when CS:S first came out, there was no
commandmenu support. Is this still the case?

I reached 9 and when I add the 10th the whole thing messed up.

[hlds] Fast rate of fire on servers

2005-09-20 Thread Graham Robinson
I have been on a couple of match servers that have fast rates of fire
on weapons like AK47s and get annoyed that people would change the
fire rates to try and get an advantage on maps. However I found that
it happened on our server the other day with no-one changing anything
(I am the only one with an rcon password)

Is there sv_ commands for rate of fire on weapons and if not is there
something that causes the firerate to go up that anyone knows about.

P.S. anyone worked out how to make a black crosshair yet?

Many thanks

I've heard about those kinds of cheats but I'm talking about an
increase in the rate of file of some guns in the hands of all people.
So if I, cheat free, picked up an M4 then it would be fine but pick up
a TMP then it would be fast.

if a higher tickrate is used the ROF will usually increase too. Thats you

No it's a source server. It's also a linux source server which doesn't
help (clicked the wrong link in the to box) but seeing as I thought it
might be a variable it would go over both.

 Oh well
tickrate does affect a very slight mary the ROF, but it cannot be
manipulated at all whatsoever by rcon, it is a startup command line variable
only.
as for other ROF variables, who knows, could be mod related.

Justify this please.

A Tick is a gameworld state and encompasses all client actions over
the time frame of a tick (either 1/33rd of a second or 1/100th of a
second in your examples). A guns firing rate is defined by real time,
not tick time.

With regard to the original question, any noticable loss or choke? -
Is it actually the client firing rate that is different, wheras the
server is processing correctly?

Any mods? Chance of a mod being hacked? Anyone possibly have access to
your server.cfg?

How long does the problem last? Does anything else noticable occur at
the same time? Have you tried running an rcon revert all?

Sorry, that would be GMail tagging it as [EMAIL PROTECTED] rather than [EMAIL
PROTECTED]

With regard to the original question, any noticeable loss or choke? -

All the time, with choke also but 99% of the time without any choke
and still fast

Is it actually the client firing rate that is different, whereas the
 server is processing correctly?

Well all clients seem to see the weapon discharge which would be the
server talking right? I suppose it's hard to answer that question with
100% certainty because the server doesn't log each bullet being fired.

Any mods? Chance of a mod being hacked? Anyone possibly have access to
 your server.cfg?

Mani, mattie, hlstatsx. Only myself and the hosts could get to the server.cfg

How long does the problem last?

About a month. Which does coincide with a 66 tick increase. However
after 3 days we went back to a 33 tick for a week and then went back
up to 66 tick. The fast weapons were fast throughout all of it.

Does anything else noticeable occur at
the same time? Have you tried running an rcon revert all?

Revert all did nothing, I just tested it. Seeing as it is constantly
doing it I can't really say if something is happening at the same
time.

[hlds] DoD:S sever perf vs. CS:S

We're busy staging our servers for DoD:S, but have no idea how to
resource plan. Are there any performance stats, under real load, from
the alpha team? Granted, they're probably under nondisclosure, but could
someone state anything from the tests? Even if it's in perspective to
CS:S (about 1.5x CPU and 2x memory of CS:S)? We all expect high traffic
and want to properly allocate our resources.

Oh, and if you only have Linux info, though this is on the Windows list,
I'll take that too.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, be nice to the guy.

Valdecir:
(I take a wild guess you meant how instead of now).
You make sure the power cable is connected to the socket in the wall and
your computer, then hit the on button often located in the front of your
computer.

Good luck!

Yeah, but there are people on this list who do know how to help. Infact,
Valve's people read these, and sometimes help. Point is, my question was
basically a yes it's possible, here's how, or a no, it isn't possible. I too
was looking for more details

Sincerly,
Jimbo

There is not really much of a difference but 2k3 runs a little better for me.
And if your going to switch to save a key then why not when its for sure not
worse then xp and 2000.

Subject: [hlds] Win2000 versus WinXP versus WinServer2003

I have an opportunity to install Windows server 2003 on the box running
my
HL server. I've ran it with Win2000, then WinXP (and could not tell any
difference). How many here have used 2003, and have you had any issues?
The
reason I want to use WinServer2003 is that I have a license to use it
through school, and it frees up my XP copies to run on other computers
that
are currently running Win2000.

IOW, is there any reason not to us WinServer2003 on my HL server box?
