Notice the current map is ook_hoover, with one player. Notice that the
status bar shows op4_meanie and no players. After watching this for a
while,
I realized that the status bar has frozen and no longer updates. Not a
show
stopper, more of a curiosity. Anyone else ever see this? I'm sure that
rebooting the server fixes it, will do that when I get around to it.

I have noticed it but honestly payed it no mind. I did notice that it
seemed to occur when a player left after sitting in spectate for an
extended time. I have no idea why. I always assumed that it was just a
status bug and ignored it. By the way I had seen this occur on all of my
servers, CS, DOD, NS and OP4. Can't remember if it ever happened on the
CZ server.

How interesting - I've never seen it before. I finally restarted the server,
and it's not occurred since.

RE: [hlds] SrcTV

2005-11-26 Thread Desolate_One
I agree it should be a higher priority than what it currently appears to be
[why has it not been fixed to date?], I don't agree on it being number one
though.
Seeing as I have absolutely no knowledge of the division of responsibilities
within VALVe and its dev dept, I'm not going to speculate as to what they
are able to do with regards to SrcTV or why it has not been fixed after a
year of the games release.

There is a rather large and long list of issues/bugs/errors/faults that need
serious attention here:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=303241.

This is NOT in order or priority [*NOTE*: some are already fixed/repaired],
nor is it complete by any means, but it has some extremely pertinent points
on what is causing the game issues and stopping it from surpassing CS in the
world of eSport Hall of Fame [if there was one].

I agree with SrcTV making CSS bigger and greater on the eSport scene by
allowing spectators the freedom to look at what/where/who the would like to;
this would encourage more people to buy the game(s), with the obvious
outcome of increasing the share price of VALVe.

I love the fact that we see a constant stream of updates coming from VALVe,
but I am at a loss as to why we don't see the weighting shifted more towards
the games bugs and from the "pretty" things.

An example of a pretty thing in the silencer fix, the fitment switches
issue, but do not fix the differences in taking weapons out from inventory.
Some weapons get cocked, some do not, changing mags forces the weapon to be
cocked, and some do not.
These are just pretty things that annoy guys who are from a military
training background, but change a persons perception of priority.

We all have a priority of what needs to be fixed, but our 'No.1. Must Be
Fixed Next Priority', is never going to match VALVe's priority
ranking/listing, never will unless you buy VALVe.

My $1 worth +GST +postage & handling, no returns accepted.

[hlds] spec hacking?

2005-11-26 Thread sKel
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
hello i was just wondering if anyone has noticed people joining a server,
sitting spec, and being able to pickup and throw guns around, like there is an
invisable player. although i know theres not cuz no other admins were in other
then me and one other. and there was a guy sitting spec forever, and i kickded
him, and didn't see it again. it was really wierd. didn't really do much,
although it was annoying because it was a surf map and he would throw all the
guns off the platform so no one could get anything. so just wondering if anyone
else has seen this, or if they know some way to stop it, or what? theres not
always an admin, and people aren't smart enough to votekick him, they just
complain.

the server is counter strike source, with mani runnin on xp, not that its
relavant or anything, but just in case =)
