Re: [hlds] Firewall and router
I looked last night in the router screen and didnt see anything about a firewall, but i'll look a little bit deeper tonight. My external at the moment is 67.169.102.189 and thats what i entered into the server.cfg file. I think i do have a spare Linksys WRT54G router. Would you reccomend switching? What version is it? The early versions are good, but Linksys ruined the current version. The V5 and V6 models have half as much memory and a different OS. It should be avoided. LInksys ruined a perfectly good router, what were they thinking? If you have an earlier version, switch. Then disable firewall at Security/firewall tab. Go to Applications and Gaming, forward port 27015 to server box. You can't assign ip addresses, but windows, when it boots, will ask for the last IP address it had, and this router will give it so you should not have any problems with your ip address changing. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds

Re: [hlds] Heads up
Are there known exploits in hlsw that can cause this? You can bsod windows 2000 by farting at it. 0x0050 is not uncommon, I believe it is PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA (bad memory, bad hardware, bad hadware drivers, bad windows in general, etc.). Windows Server 2003 still does this sigh. - Original Message - From: Chorizo Omelet [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Sent: Saturday, July 22, 2006 12:44 PM Subject: [hlds] Heads up Looks like there me be a new server exploit for 1.6 I do not have my logging turned on to the degree needed to know who was connected at the time... Re: [hlds] Firewall and router
You should not need to enter any IP address into server.cfg. I have never done so, and it works fine. If you use the WRT54G, you don't need this - remove it from server.cfg. Re: [hlds] Firewall and router
i found with my wrt54g (a version 2) that if you stick the dd-wrt firmware on it, it's amazing. Makes life so much easier when your doing this kinda stuff because you can tell dchp to assign you an ip according to your comps mac addy. means you always get the same ip. that makes windows happy, it makes me happy because i can just type the same string and it's always right and also hlds/srcds never fail to work because the ports are always open straight through from the comp to the big wide world.
