Re: [hlds] TF2.... How can it be fun?

2007-09-29 Thread Graham Robinson
I really disliked the respawn time until I realised that it is fast
for attackers, slow for defenders and equal on normal maps. This does
make for a far more attacking game where on the final point it gives
an extra 10 seconds or so for the attacking team to move towards your
point. It's irritating if you are desperately trying to defend your
point but at a game level it seems about right.

I am, however, very surprised at how long it takes to connect to a server.

totally agree on the respawn time.

[hlds] HLDS TF2 Sonicwall Firewalls.

2007-09-29 Thread Noctaire
Ok, has ANYONE figured out how to get the HLDS to run with Sonicwall
firewalls, specifically more recent models? I'm fast coming to the
conclusion that it is not possible; at least not if you want the server to
be recognized on the master servers.

Valve: If you read these messages, it would be helpful to get some input on
this issue; there are several folks with Sonicwall firewall appliances that
are in the same boat.

There is no cvar in CS:S to handle this. Admin plugins have always been the
ones booting players when their latency reaches a certain level. However, a
built-in CVAR would be nice. =)

[hlds] TF2 not rotating to certain maps

2007-09-29 Thread [??R] The-/iller

Have a TF2 rotation server on the default rotation and its never going

seems really random but only happened after this latest update.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yes this is on 24/7 full servers, simply tc_hydro and cp_dustbown and

I have to say that I find the % display during update for server content to
be pretty useless and I really miss not seeing what files are actually being
updated / verified.

IMHO this change was a step-down in server management.

I see both, the % is printed at the beginning of the line of each file being

As MikeD said, the percentages are still useless though. When it says 114%,
I wonder how much is left?

I think they could do both. The percent is kind of nice. But usually my
update is a script, so unless something doesn't work, I don't even look at the
logs. Having the download/verify is helpful for troubleshooting tho...
