There are number of ways:

1. command mapchangecfgfile
2. if you are using linux: symlink server.cfg (ln /server1/server.cfg
/server2/server.cfg -s)

when you need to access a file for example c:\foo\bar.baz in another
place, like d:\some\thi.ng then you can create a hardlike, instead of
copying the file and duplicate the filesize.
its like an alias for the file.

Re: [hlds] Multiple servers, same configs

2008-08-21 Thread Steven Hartland
A hard link to a file is indistinguishable from the original directory entry;
any changes to a file are effectively independent of the name used to reference
the file. Hard links may not normally refer to directories and may not span
file systems.

A symbolic link contains the name of the file to which it is linked. The
referenced file is used when an open(2) operation is performed on the
link. A stat(2) on a symbolic link will return the linked-to file; an
lstat(2) must be done to obtain information about the link. The
readlink(2) call may be used to read the contents of a symbolic link.
Symbolic links may span file systems and may refer to directories.

Junctions, the closest thing windows prior to 2008 has to links, is more
like a hardlink than a soft link but is only valid for directories.

Regards
Steve

No, because people weren't specifically clicking on a vanilla tab - they
were just joining what was in front of them. The whole issue was the
indifferent or uneducated players who would never go out of their way to
look on the custom tab. Now, anyone searching for a tag is definitely
looking for that tag, so spoofing tags will not get more legitimate
traffic. The incentive is gone.

Re: [hlds] The new tagging system

2008-08-21 Thread Luke Lewis
Honestly, I tagged my servers with what I run on my server, such as modded
respawn system etc. But, honestly who cares how anyone else is setting their
servers up? If they get traffic and people stay good, if they don't oh well,
it doesn't affect you in the slightest. And what I would consider a
"Vanilla" server is a server whose gaming rule set complies with that in
which VALVe setup. IE no spawn modifications, no additional plugins.
Changing cvars such as alltalk doesn't effect the gameplay part of it that
much, but in my opinion I would tag the server as "alltalk" just so people
can search for it. I think you get the point. Just my $.02.

Re: [hlds] PlayerRecords

2008-08-21 Thread bl4nkeh
I'm not sure. I added a new table to it a week or so ago for some guy,
but I never really got around to doing much more on it than that. If
people want to test it out, you can get it at:

http://www.joe.to/~bl4nk/playerrecords.sp

Here's the header I put in the file for those that don't know what this
plugin is about.

/**
 * PlayerRecords by bl4nk
 *
 * This plugin logs a lot of information on each player into
 * a MySQL database. The current list of information logged
 * is as follows:
 * - The player's SteamID
 * - Every name/IP the player has used and when they last used it
 * - The amount of times a player has connected to the server
 *
 *
 * All of this information is logged into two MySQL tables:
 * `players` : Includes the SteamID, first used name, last used name,
 * last ip connected from, number of connections, and the
 * date and time of their last successful* connection.

Re: [hlds] Arena 24 man 12 v 12 config

2008-08-21 Thread Arg!
i had some success (sort of...) by increasing maxplayers to 32, managed to
get 11v11. Only problem with this is that its not a 32 players server, only
24, so when player 25 tries to join, server dies.

Anyone else had any more progress on this yet?
