You probably do pay less, but when downloading the newest games and mods, that
1.5/MB sec speed is really nice. As far as I know, I have no download cap. At
least I've never encountered it.

You have to realize that some people just don't need a 100 mbit line
to their house (though it'd be neat.)

6mbit/768k is just fine with me. Bet you I pay a whole lot less too
unless you work for them. Sure uploads take a bit longer but when you
download stuff directly to a box instead of uploading it... It really
doesn't matter.

Not to mention Comcast 15mbit is bursted unless you have a business
line, oh and don't forget about that download cap!

Re: [hlds] Group Banning And You

2009-07-25 Thread Karl Weckstrom
I don't need it - but I have it :) (downstream anyway, via Optonline Ultra -
and what's interesting is that I actually get that speed downstream off usenet
- and for $99/mo with a painful $300 "activation fee")

http://www.weckstrom.com/pics/#usenet.jpg

Sorry. Had to do that little brag there, as lame as it was. I don't often get
the chance to gloat :)

(and for those who care, upstream is a piddly 15mbit, but it's 100% unblocked
on all ports - but still dynamic IP)

Re: [hlds] Group Banning And You

2009-07-25 Thread Shane Arnold
Are you 100% sure that everybody in those groups are hacking/exploiting?
I think that is what Kyle and CC2 are getting at. In any case we
shouldn't criticise server operators for the way they ban people. It's
their server and they can do what they like with it. I do disagree with
blanket-bans however, for the record.
