Servers

Here's a tip for those that don't look back on the archives...

 Default server port = 27015
 Default hltv port = 27020
 Default steam port = 27021

If you run multiple servers on the same IP do the following as an
example...

 Server One = -ip xx.xx.xx.xx -port 27015 -sport 27021
 Server Two = -ip xx.xx.xx.xx -port 27016 -sport 27022
 Etc, etc.

What is happening is that if you run a game server at a default port of
another service (hltv or steam) then that port is taken when you go to
start
another instance. The solution is to simply determine what uses what in
the
command line for each server instance.

Re: [hlds] Has VALVe abandoned TFC for good?

2005-08-06 Thread Ruiner
TFC is far from being dead...

www.konspiracy.org

But yeah, I wish we'd get some kind of announcements reguarding TF2 or
TFC:S, we've been left in the dark way too long. I remember back in the days
were VALVe would release something for TFC... like new models or
something... That seems so far away now :(

It's also funny that some of the exploits that have been in the game for
many years are still in there, even tho some server-side mods fix those
without any problem...

So how many frames per year is VALVE running at? And when the next frame
finally comes, do we get an update?

 :-P

How about just releasing the source to TFC? You released the source to DMC
and Ricochet, why not TFC? It's obvious that there is no work being done
to
 the old TFC.

TFC is pretty much dead anyway, finding a server that's not full of bots
is
 quite a challenge.

[hlds] QStat Problem HalfLife 1

2005-07-26 Thread Ruiner
Just wondering if this is normal... I am using the latest version of qstat,
which supposedly has the new steam protocol implemented (2.8), but I am
unable to query HL1 servers.

I am able to query HLTV servers without problems tho. I can also query
servers that are not updated. Was there any other changes to the protocol
recently? It seems to have started way after the update that changed the
protocol?

and NOT 2.8 or other currently precompiled version.

I'm pretty sure I got the correct switches...

 -hls still works with hltv
-a2s and -hls don't work at all on all my updated hl1 servers. But this
seems recent! It was working after the protocol update (when hlsw needed
to
be updated). Now I get timeouts... I don't get it really :o

[hlds] hldsupdatetool - query version numbers from steam content server possible?

2005-07-26 Thread Ruiner
This is a fairly simple request:

I know I can see what version is installed on my client, with
hldsupdatetool -command version, but is it possible to query the steam
content server for the current version #?

If it's not possible, it would be great to have this implemented.. maybe in
the list function, all mods are listed, but not the version numbers.

Thank you

Is anybody else experiencing frequent crashes since the today's update?

in css the hltv was included in scrds, so there were no seperate hltv
 like was before 1.6, 1.5, ...
before the css hltv was disabled if you set:
 sv_hltv 1
and after a map change hltv connected to the server and also there
were a few hltv commands like:
 hltv_port
 hltv_delay
 hltv_autorecord
resulted a htlv on a different port.

but now these commands seems to be missing :(

Re: [hlds] What the hell happened to hlds_proc.

2005-03-22 Thread Ruiner
I remember a while back Rob Harwood released a server management program,
which worked rather well, and actually restarted the server when it

I even donated $35 to his project, only for it to fall off the face of the

Anyone have an idea of what happened to this project?

[hlds] Source Update

2005-02-24 Thread Ruiner
I was seriously waiting for someone to complain about the source update
(Again).. And since no one has yet, anyone else having trouble updating? As
it is right now, I've been stuck at checking/installing for the past.. oh 1
hour.

Checking/Installing 'Counter-Strike Source Shared Content' version 25

Never does anything. Then when it does complete, you get to the models, and
it does the following:

Checking/Installing 'Base Source Shared Models' version 3
No Steam Content Servers are available

... and then its a retry over and over.. same thing.

Seriously, we need a new way to get updates. Why not pre-load updates, and
unlock them somehow when then official launch time comes in, or something
like that. I don't know, but it'd just make sense.. Just an idea..

[hlds] hldsupdatetool

2005-02-19 Thread Ruiner
Something that I've just thought about, does the hldsupdatetool have
different exit codes? ie: if the update completes, it should exit with code
0, else with a code 0.. that could be useful for updates, ie make a batch
file that loops the update until the exit code is 0... seeing as I'm getting
no steam content servers 15 times before it'll update this morning ;)

Re: [hlds] Counter-Strike: Source update

2005-01-21 Thread Ruiner
Here's an idea. Any way we could run our own content servers? I have 50
servers to update, and instead of putting the load on the steam content
servers, I wouldn't mind running my own content server for my servers to
update. That would be so great if it would be possible.. So that I could ge
the updates (faster) and update all my servers faster instead of waiting for
steam to be less busy and restart the update 50 times.

Right now demand for the Counter-Strike: Source depot is very high. This
release was large (due to the addition of bots and a new map) and we
didn't have an optimal content layout on our servers for this release.
Demand is ramping down pretty quickly right now, this shouldn't be a
 problem for too much longer.

For the next large update we will provision more bandwidth for
 Counter-Strike: Source.

[hlds] some annoying rcon stuff

2004-12-23 Thread Ruiner
Don't know if it's been reported or not, but I don't remember reading about
it...

1st, Rcon commands respond half the time.
2nd, after level change, your rcon pw isnt saved anymore? Ie, you need to
retype rcon_password.. (that's when you play on the server yourself,
obviously, not remote tools)
3rd, banip doesn't seem to work or do anything. it should return something
and tell you if it actually did something.

I've noticed those quite often, not sure if 2nd happens all the time, but
i've seen it quite a few times..

I run several CS 1.6 and rcon works 100% of the time.

And ban IP works for me. Although I use HLSW most of the time.
