Re: SV: [hlds] FPS Stuck at 64

2005-01-11 Thread TJ Hilton
Interestingly enough, no. I didn't have that variable in the
server.cfg at all

I've added it though, and set it to 1000. Now if only I could get
that dern 'stats' command to give me the server FPS I could let you
know if it helped.

The FPS still drops every day, so I restart the server daily. But

running WMP in the background while the server is running moved my
box to a constant 512 FPS.

Does this also work on the new css version ? Isnt that only for
the old CS server? My server is running at 256 all the time, just
if it runs longer than 1 day or so it begins to drop 128... 64..?

Start WMP (Windows Media Player) and run clock.avi in your %systemroot%

Minimize the WMP and you got your server running in 512fps...

There is also an FPS bug in CSS on Windows 2003 servers´s that drops the
FPS. So you need to reboot your CSS server once a day.

 Hey All

I just finished setting up a CSS Server on windows 2003. When I run
it in console, the FPS shown at the top of the console is a static
64.0. I am under the impression that more FPS is better and I've read
of people running 200. How do I get my Server FPS up?

 Thanks!

[hlds] HL2 Bug?

2004-11-16 Thread TJ Hilton
Hey All

HL2 Question, don't know if this is the right place, but here goes.
I'm playing, loving life etc. When I'm racing the pontoon boat all
sorts of wierdness starts.

First wierd thing happens when I'm at the following screen shot,
http://img63.exs.cx/img63/6706/hl2bug11.jpg

First I'm there, then its like i warp to
http://img63.exs.cx/img63/4159/hl2bug12.jpg

If I look back behind me, it's like there just isn't anything there.
http://img54.exs.cx/img54/2962/hl2bug13.jpg

This is all well and fine, because I can keep playing. So I'm humming
along and I get to some concrete tubing that I apparently need to
slide over.
http://img64.exs.cx/img64/8193/hl2bug14.jpg

I slide over the pipes then into the last one, go around one corner
http://img64.exs.cx/img64/2549/hl2bug15.jpg

and bam... the end of the universe apparently.
http://img29.exs.cx/img29/7405/hl2bug.jpg
http://img29.exs.cx/img29/258/hl2bug1.jpg

I'm running a Dell Optiplex GX280, P43.6, 1Gig Ram, x300 Video card.

Any help on this?

Bayesian Filter detected spam - Bayesian Filter detected spam

lol, i'm offended that your spam filter thought my email was spam.

Don't be :) everything from the HLDS list gets tagged as such, even His
Majesty Alfreds stuff, which should be hand delivered by a courier on a
 white horse. ;)

On a side note - the unwashed masses are positively clamoring for
another map before the beta ends. Doing a hostie map would make sense,
and allow server testing of round changes, map cycles, per-map configs,
etc. Not the worst idea. Are there plans to release a second map?

[hlds] Steam Down For Anyone Else

Hey All

When I try to log into steam, it says updating, goes through the
update progress bar to 100% then restarts at zero and does it again,
then goes back to zero and restarts again. Then it says that steam is

Is anyone else having these problems?

[hlds] New Video Card For HL2?

2004-08-07 Thread TJ Hilton
Hey All

I know this isn't a server question, so feel free to flame me till
your heart's content. But I'm considering buying a new video card to
be able to better play HL2. My current system is a AMD Athalon XP
2000 with a gig of ram and a Nvidia GeForce 4 graphics card.

I tried Doom3 (which i heard has similar system requirements to those
of HL2) on the lowest settings and it barfed. So I'm thinking in
getting a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (128) to be able to better enjoy newer
video games.

My question is, is just upgrading the video card going to be enough to
let me play HL2? Perhaps someone from Valve could comment.

And yes, I've read the system requirements. PIII 800 mhz DX6
Compatible. But Doom3 said it would run just fine on a lower end
system as well and it just died.

Any Info?

Thanks.
