We (Mint-Clan) put up 2 16 man deathmatch servers this morning and they filled
up within a couple of hours.

We added a further 10 man deathmatch around 13:15GMT and it filled up in 10
mins.

Hopefully you guys can convert some of the interest into sales so you can buy
some servers of your own ;).

We at catsgaming.com put one server up before the free weekend started but
was never really touched.

When the free weekend started, it got busy, to the point we put another 10
man server up, before I went to be at 4am both servers were 5/8. Just looked
now there both 8/8.

I think Im gonna change sv_maxvisible from 8 to 9, and keep the one hidden
slot, see how that works out.

The only thing I don't like about running The Ship is there no MOTD, so we
can't put in any links to where they can contact us, if need admin or
anything else.

I've got to agree, it would be nice to have an motd to be able to have contact
details and a bit of advertising for the people paying the server bill :).

A few other observations;

1) There is a resource leak in the server. One of our servers runs on a 256MB
2.0GHz celeron box, it starts off find and over time memory usage creeps up to
the point where it starts swapping and then performance goes out the window
(The users see choppy movement and skipping in the client). Restart the server
and everything is OK again.

2) When I look at the entire server list for Europe and I get about 30 servers,
3 of which I've put up for the weekend. I know I'm not getting a small server
list due to a link problem because I'm in the UK and the 3 servers are in
Germany, so if I can see all of them I should see most of the western europe
servers. Is the ship really that unpopular that there are very few western
european servers outside the free weekends?

3) So if 2 is true about it being unpopular; Why outerlight aren't committing
cash to having some servers of their own?, maybe someone would like to comment,
because for around 500GBP per month I could run 10 24 man servers with in
western europe (and no, this isn't an ad because I don't work for a hosting
company), so why aren't they?

Just some thoughts

I've just tried and also cannot download this. I'd like to promote my game
hosting a bit but unfortunately without being able to download the server
files, I'm out of luck.
