I'm being kicked out with this message too. Best to presume it's part
of the big VAC problem in the other mailing lists.

Doesn't seem to make difference. Of our 4 pubs (in 3 different

I were to crackpot a theory, I'd say keep rebooting the server until

Otherwise, chill until people @ steam/valve go back to work. It's a

I was having the same issues for about an hour+ this afternoon. One of
my attempts was to try to disable vac (+secure 0 from the cmdline)
which didn't work, though I did notice after the hlds restart people
could connect.

I restarted all my servers and people are able to join now, alterantive
is to wait out the storm I guess.

good luck

I think you may need a refresher on how mailing lists work, everyone on the
list gets every message sent.

I've got about 130 counts of this in ALL my log files for more servers
 than sin ;)

However like 110 of them are HLDM and HL2DM, so I might believe it was
something weird to allow people to play single player w/o buying the game.

Maybe Alfred can clarify for us when and where this message comes up.

I wouldn't jump on the hack wagon just yet, you do have the ablity
 to brows
servers so for a second lets say someone is sharing the PC with one
 user
profile and two steam accounts, player Y has all the games and
 player Z
 has
half, so if player Z was browsing the server list and saw said
 server then
double clicked on it, the content would start to load seeing how the
 contect
is truely there, so they would be able to get all the way to
 authenicat
 and
at that point Steam would match the account to the game and dump
 player.
Thus goes round the cycle of Steam

I just find it very curious that they could actually get to the point
 where
their client loads OP4 and tries to join the server before something
 finally
says you can't do this and disconnects. I would think they would
 not be
able to load the client at all. Unless they had some sort of hack that
 lets
them play it in SP mode?

My Knee jerk reaction is that they have multiple accounts
on PC with install of Steam and they have once account
with said game and the other account probably has the game
files but it is not unlocked in Valvedom.

2006-05-09 Thread Kevin Ottalini

This has been going on a long time.

I saw the first on 11/17/2005, but only 3 events total in 2005 (on HL2DM).
I've seen 17 so far in 2006.

I mostly see that message in my HL2DM server but it does occasionally show
in HLDM too.
