He tried the v66.93 from the nvidia site if thats what you mean. Thats
what crashed his box. We even tried some beta drivers but they didn't
do the trick.

RE: [hlds] OT: HL2 save screenshots corrupt

2004-11-18 Thread David Fencik
An asus k8vse deluxe with the latest bios update. Windows xp pro sp2
with all updates. AMD athlon64 3200+, 1Gb crucial ddr400, sb audigy
2ZS, 2X Hitachi 80Gb SATA hds (raid0), nVidia geforce 6800GT with the
latest WHQL certified drivers.

I have all the latest drivers for my chipset, sata controller, sound
card, and video card.

I ran multiple benchmarks on my system (cpu burnin, rthdribl, 3dmark)
for hours. Heat is not an issue. The only thing that will make my
system even burp is to run hl2.

This system is capable of running 1600x1200 with high detail models,
shadows, shaders, and textures and 4xAA, 4xAnisotropic filtering. This,
however, causes the machine to die. I actually have to turn off the
power supply for about 10 seconds to let the capacitors discharge.

Running at the same resolution with details set to low and AA and
filtering disabled lets me play.

I have that problem as well. I tried to take some screenshots for a
friend
at 2048x1536, but it just showed up black (in both the tga's and
jpeg's). I
believe, well at least for me, anything above 1280x1024 will show up
black
(but 1280x1024 works fine).

I have a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB... Is anybody with an nVidia card having
the
same problem?

Would post on the forums but they have been down since
release is anyone else getting corrupt save game screen
shots? The first 2 where ok but now its either just black
or like a TV with static displaying. N.B. I'm running
at my TFT's native res ( 1920 * 1200 ) which might
be a defining factor.
