 Actually what OGC is doing is 100% circumventing detection.

 That IS circumventing detection (as opposed to eg trying to _hide_ the
 active cheat from detection).

You realy don't get it, do you. Ok, last time I'll reply to this.
When a cheat is unloaded/disabled you cannot use it anymore. You
cannot cheat. The cheat isn't there anymore, it doesn't function.
To circumvent a detection means that as a result the cheat still
is active and usable but was not detected. But the unloaded cheat
is not present to be used, so how could this be circumvention.

In your logic if I would cheat and get detected and then I decide
to uninstall the cheat, wipe it from my harddrive, then I would
circumvent the detection (because the no existent cheat cannot be
deteted) and would thus be doing something illelgal? What kind of
a warped logic is that?

Btw, either you're living in the future or you compters date
setting is fucked up.

Re: [hlds_linux] logfile management

2002-06-06 Thread botman

 Has anyone written or found a shell script or the like used to
 automatically delete log files that are a certain number of days old? I'd
 like to keep a solid months worth of log files (31 maybe 35 days or so).
 I'm imagining a shell script that is croned to run once a day deleting
 files older than a certain age. I'm sure I could figure something out but
 thought I'd ask if anyone else is doing something similar.

C'mon Brian!  It's Linux...

find /usr/hlds_l/tfc/logs -name *.log -ctime +30 -exec rm -f {} \;

Stick that in your cron and run it once a day.

about this as well, but would hate to miss out on anything that might be of
interest. I applaud the efforts of the few that wish to make the changes as
to the subject line, but this is just getting out of hand. Alot of people
are now afraid of posting here with there problems (me included) as they do
not want to be flamed or called an idiot for asking questions. I am a firm
believer that the only stupid question is the one that was never asked ...
alot of times it is just something that can be answered with a single reply.
There needs to be some sort of administration going on. We as admins should
know that without policing riots ensue. What do you think your server would
be like if there was no admin there ?

Come on guys lets pull together. If you don't have anything nice or
productive to say then say nothing at all We were all new to this at
some point. I can remember the days when I did not even know how to start my

Hey.

While waiting for Botman to finish (or begin :P ) adding runtime on/off settings to

Can you use metamod and pause the monster-plugin?
E.g. Run the plugin in paused mode and when camping occurs be able to unpause and
voila, monsters will spawn (pre-config files).

Sounds like a good -while-waiting-solution for me, but I can't try it yet I'm afraid,
that's the whole reason for mailing to the list :-)

I believe pausing and unloading the metamod plugin requires a special function
in the plugin to support this. As this is a BETA release, no such functions
exist in the Monster plugin and attempting to use them will either cause
nothing to happen or cause the game to crash.

Will can probably give you more details on the requirements for these metamod
features.

[hlds_linux] A problem with cs_hokkaido map under Linux AND a solution for those using Adminmod with reserved slots ...

Alright, I have a problem with cs_hokkaido killing my server under Linux.
The error is the same as I use to get with de_rock when they first released
the final version. They had to fix the map itself. Has anyone else seen this
problem with this map?

L 06/06/2002 - 15:38:13: FATAL ERROR (shutting down): Mod_LoadSpriteGroup:
interval=0
FATAL ERROR (shutting down): Mod_LoadSpriteGroup: interval=0

Secondly, I was looking for a quick fix to a problem most of us have with
respect to Adminmod and reserved slots. The problem being that typically ip
addyies listed in the ips.ini are dynamic and will change over time. I'm big
in low maintenance so I told my admins to subscribe to a service like
www.dyndns.org http://www.dyndns.org in which you run a client on your
box and you assign a hostname to your box. On the server side, I take their
hostnames and convert them into ips daily using this python script.

from socket import *
import string

f1 = open(hname.ini)
f2 = open(ips.ini, w)
f1line = f1.readline()
while f1line:
hostname = string.strip(f1line)
ip = gethostbyname(hostname)
f2.write(ip + \n)
f1line = f1.readline()
f1.close()
f2.close()

I list it here in case anyone else could find it useful.

[hlds_linux] How to log.

2002-06-06 Thread Jonathan Hodges

 I know I will probably get flamed like a newbie,
 but would anyone know the cvars I need to put in
 my server.cfg file so I can log what my server
 does?

Put
log on
in your -autoexec.cfg- file.

Other logfile options include:

mp_logdetail x
Where x is 1,2,31: log enemy attacks
2. log teammate attacks
3. log teammate and enemy attacks
mp_logmessages x
Where x is 0,1 0: do not log messages
1: log messages

logaddress x
Where x is an IP address and port where the log is to be sent to

sv_logbans x
Where x is 0,1 0: do not log bans
1: log bans from Valve's anti-cheat

mp_logfile x
Where x is 0,1 0: do not log to file
1: log to file

*by default all log files are located in /moddir/logs (i.e.
/cstrike/logs) and are in format:
LMMDDxxx.log(xxx specifies the logfile number for
that day, MM DD are the month and day respectively)

Hope that helps-
