Re: [hlds_linux] [OT] possible bug

2002-07-18 Thread Elminst

I would say repeated skywalking is defintely bannable.
It's exploiting a bug in the map to give you an unfair advantage. Just like
popping thru the ceiling on assault or oilrig.

The random up/down models is a glitch, but you can't do it on purpose (that
I know of). And often, you may see the player up in the air, but if you ask
them what they see, everything is fine on their screen. I've never
had/seen/heard of an instance where an actual player sees _himself_ up in
the air or moving thru the floor.

RE: [hlds_linux] [OT] possible bug

2002-07-18 Thread m0gely

It's a random thing. You shoot where you know the model really is, not
where you see it. It's not something the other person is even aware of,
his view shows him where he should be. And just as quickly as they
appear at the wrong elevation, they can pop back down or up at any time.
They don't really go back and forth though. Usually, they start the
round like that and with in a few seconds they snap back where they
should be.

As far as the dust skywalker thing, it's not so much a cheat but it
really really annoying. I would love to treat it as a cheat though.
Any way to set up hlguard to kick people at z elevations they shouldn't
be at in certain maps? Heh.

I think they seemed to be actitvating the exploit themselves. Once one
person had done it the other CT's were gagging to know how they could do it
too. As Mogely suggested I have been slapping, banning and kicking the
offenders, but it would be nice to see a way to stop this from actually
happening.

See my description.. this is definitely not something that happens
accidentally. It needs 2 people to be able to do it. You can do it on
other maps too.. assault, for example, you can boost someone through the
corner of the warehouse and make them suddenly appear outside.. Again,
it takes 2 people to do it..

That's what I assumed he was talking about. Sounded more like it than
the "People appearing at random heights" bug, which happens on all maps,
at any location, and not just at the CT spawn area on dust.

I have seen this too. sometime's people are running around half way in
the ground, other times they are up in the air running around. Just the

It's a bug in the map. If you jump up onto the second crate by the CT
spawn (You can knife jump from the other crate, or get boosted) then get
a second person up there, you can boost someone through the roof of the
map and then they can run around on top of it.. It takes cooperation
because you need 2 people to do it. I tend to kick people if they
continue doing after I've asked them to stop..

I see this a lot in tfc. The server or client seems to think the player
model is above or below its actual position so you see people running around
in the air, or in the floor. You cant actually shoot them tho (the models
that is). If you move your crosshairs over the model it wont give you any
info, but if you move your crosshairs to the height they should be you will
see the info, and shooting in that area will register as hits.

Really weird bug.

[hlds_linux] [OT] possible bug

2002-07-18 Thread Jay Anstiss

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this same bug, or if it's
something that's always been there and not just in the latest released files
for CS, but on my server the other day (whilst running de_dust) I was
playing as a terrorist and when going through the archway towards one of the
bombsites (near the CT spawn point) I knew there was a CT there round the
corner, but when I turned to shoot there he was, floating in the air. I
thought it was a momentary glitch, but on the next round it happened again
only this time 4 others were with him floating halfway up the wall and
moving around. Before they could be shot they wiped us out.

Is there a bug that someone knows of that is causing this? (NOTE* I dropped
into spectator mode, followed the CT's around and when the round started
after that about 4 of them ran to this same point and somehow 'floated' up
again.

I know this is probably not a cheat, but I think it greatly spoils the game.
