Re: [hlds_linux] Hacker

They are cheating using scripts.

There is such a script that, when your not firing, you have a crappy cl_updaterate or
cl_rate. But when you start firing, a script changes so your upload is very
high/good. Thus they seem laggy when they run around, but they can see shoot.

Their download rate is very good, so they see the world normally, but their upload
rate is crap. so it looks like they jump around.

Tell them to use default settings or ban them. I am sure a lot of admins consider
this as form of cheating. They do not need to lag like that, they use scripts to
make it so.

hpbbot is a good stable bot but I ahve found the bots to be kind of dumb.
They cant buy weapons and I dont see them defuse bombs. Stable bot though.

Hey there!

This seems like a good temporary solution, however I would love to be
able to find a more perm one. I have noticed that restarting doesn't
release all the memory used by the HLDS PID, this would stop the
excessive leakage though. Thanks for the script, I will put that
together tonight. I wonder if VALVe is aware of this issue? Have they
made any plans to look into this?

I don't seam to suffer the mem leaks others do. My iceworld server is
full 24/7 and up for days at a time now that the VAC updates don't kill
player connections. I only restart it for changes that require it. The
ice/deagle server is prolly 80% full most of the time. The std rotation
server doesn't see much action. The Q3A server is full most of the
time. My mem usage stays around 90M for the iceworld when full, CPU
31~39%, a little less for the ice/deagle server. Not running the Q3
server at the moment.. I can't remember what it uses.

Re: [hlds_linux] False cheat detections?

2002-09-20 Thread m0gely

You know, I have never had a problem myself being banned nor any one I
know so I have never put any thought into how I would contact valve. So
I decided to see how hard it would be. Afterwords some comments from
this thread came to mind.

"Besides they can't cobtact valve.."

"These people has been given no address to contact"

"We would all like to know since you seem to have a mysterious direct line"

"Yeah m0gely, you post us an email address VALVe would like mail sent too?"

"And we have asked, and asked again for the correct place for users to
contact"

You make these people seam untouchable, and completely with out a care
for your VAC questions. I can't speak for your own experiences, but I
have to say I proved every one of these statments wrong or got them
answered in less than 2 hours last night. And with the most obvious
person to try 1st. I don't know how good the info will be when it comes
to this list, but it will be here within a couple days so be patient.
